Myth:
Expensive shampoos are always better.
Truth: Price doesnβt guarantee effectiveness. Many affordable shampoos work just as well as luxury brands. What matters is the ingerdients and how it suits your hair type and needs, not the price tag πΈ
Good healthy shampoo habits to make when you have an oily scalp π§΄πΏ
β’Always shampoo twice and focus on the scalp (first shampoo wont always lather)
β’Exfoliating your scalp 1-2 times a month can break down stubborn oil build up that your regular shampoo can miss.
β’Wash daily or every other day. This is absolutely normal.
β’Keep your brushes clean
β’Always blowdry dry your hair (please never go to bed with your hair wet)

Those "hair growth productsβ at home are great, but what you put into your body counts
Consistency is key. You canβt eat one salad and expect Rapunzel results overnight; itβs about fueling your follicles daily with the vitamins and minerals they need. When you're consistent with nutrient-dense foods, youβre investing in your future healthy hair

When we see a scalp imbalanceβwhether itβs excessive oil, dryness, or inflammationβyour body is usually trying to tell you something.
We often reach for a new shampoo but as a trichologist, I look at:
* Gut health and absorption
* Stress levels and hormones
* Nutrition
A healthy scalp starts from within. Itβs a reflection of how we nourish and care for our whole body.
This year, Iβll be sharing the science behind that connection and how you can achieve your healthiest hair ever by focusing on scalp health from the inside out. Watch this space π
The impact of stress on your hair ππͺ«
Stress doesnβt just affect your mindβit can have a significant impact on your hair and scalp. When you experience intense stress, your body produces higher levels of cortisol, a hormone that can disrupt normal hair growth and scalp health. One of the most common effects is telogen effluvium, a condition where hair prematurely enters the resting (telogen) phase of the hair growth cycle. This can lead to noticeable shedding a few months after a stressful event.
Stress can also trigger or worsen alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks hair follicles, resulting in patchy hair loss. In addition, scalp conditions such as dandruff, psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis can flare up under stress. This happens because stress affects the immune system and can increase inflammation in the body, including the scalp.
Beyond hair loss, stress can also affect hair quality. Hair may become thinner, more brittle, or prone to breakage. Some people notice changes in texture or a decrease in shine and volume during periods of stress. Stress can often leads to unhealthy habits that affect hair problems, such as poor diet, irregular sleep, and neglecting hair care routines.
By managing stress and supporting your scalp and hair through proper care and nutrition, you can reduce its impact and maintain healthier, stronger hair π§΄π₯π§ββοΈ
