Luke’s had a cancellation today at 3pm if anyone wants a cut and blowdry but he isnt taking on new clients # # #

I used to think being a good hairdresser meant being available every hour of the day.

It’s not…

Squeezing people in
Running late
Skipping lunch
Letting clients take the p**s with my time

All because I didn’t want to let anyone down

Meanwhile I was the one leaving work drained, behind, and a bit resentful

No one tells you this when you start…
if you don’t set boundaries, clients will set them for you

Things only changed when I stopped over giving

Set clear times
Stopped overbooking myself
Got comfortable saying “that doesn’t fit in this appointment”

And the mad thing is…
the right clients respected me more for it

My days feel calmer now
My work’s better
And I actually enjoy being behind the chair

You don’t need to be everything to everyone to make this work

If you’re feeling stretched or like you’re constantly chasing your day
this is your nudge to tighten it up

Sorry Iv been so quiet on here, but I don’t want my head in my phone all the time as I hate being on my phone unless I’m shopping 😂 and I just want to take 2 minutes out to thank every single loyal client as I got to be honest so many have helped us more then you know this year 😘

Imagine going to work for three hours and not being payed!! This week I had someone book in for a 3 hour appointment and they let me down half hour before her appointment because she wasn’t aloud to finish early in work… I went and got extra stock as her hair is really thick and really long and now Iv been ghosted, im struggling to pay all the bills as it has a massive impact on small businesses! I know i should have took a despot but so many of you are fantastic at showing up at your appointment.. so I don’t see why one person should spoil it for everyone else but yet again it’s always one spoiling it for everyone else. being self employed is really hard and we could do with out being messed around. Im so sorry to moans guys but it’s so frustrating when I get up everyday to earn a living and things like this happen. On a brighter note I am now on annual leave for a week for some much needed rest. Thank you for everyone’s support it doesn’t go unoticed
