🚨 AESTHETICS REGULATION UPDATE – WHERE ARE WE NOW?

The Government is continuing its work to regulate non-surgical cosmetic procedures in England. Here’s a summary of the progress made so far.

✅ Completed

April 2022 – The Health and Care Act 2022 became law, giving the Government powers to introduce licensing.

July 2023 – Public consultation launched on regulating non-surgical cosmetic procedures.

October 2023 – Consultation closed following responses from practitioners, educators, healthcare professionals and the public.

March 2025 – The Government published its response, confirming plans for:
✔ Practitioner licensing
✔ Premises licensing
✔ Risk-based regulation
✔ National education and competency standards

2025–2026 – Changes to prescribing requirements and further work on the licensing framework have continued.

• Final regulations laid before Parliament
• Publication of licensing standards
• Confirmation of qualification requirements
• Practitioner and premises licence applications
• Transition period
• Full implementation

Important: The Government has not yet confirmed dates for the remaining stages. Any dates circulating online are estimates, not official announcements.

The direction of travel is clear. The industry is moving towards higher standards, greater accountability and improved patient safety.
