Today was a reminder of why being available to people when they need support matters so much.

I completed a de-matting appointment for a client, and the results were incredible. What could have been an overwhelming and emotional experience became a positive transformation that left my client feeling confident, comfortable, and happy.

As hair professionals, we often do far more than hair. We listen, we encourage, we problem-solve, and sometimes we help people through difficult periods in their lives. A salon chair can become a safe space where someone feels heard and cared for.

This is also why funding and community investment are so important.

Funding doesn’t just provide equipment, training, or resources. It allows people like me to dedicate time to supporting others, creating inclusive spaces, developing volunteers, and providing opportunities for those who may otherwise struggle to access support.

Through both LeeLou HQ and The Coffee Vine CIC, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is when people have somewhere to turn, whether that’s for a conversation, a coffee, a new skill, or simply a confidence boost.

Today’s transformation wasn’t just about removing matted hair. It was about restoring dignity, confidence, and self-esteem.

Happy clients really are the secret sauce for me. Seeing someone leave feeling better than when they arrived is what makes every challenge worthwhile.
