Why do we carry out a patch test?

We perform a patch test alongside a full consultation to ensure you’re the perfect candidate for laser treatment. As there are certain contraindications to laser, it’s essential that we assess everything carefully before moving forward.

Are you ready to book your patch test?

If you’re planning to start laser straight away, then it’s the perfect time to book. However, if you’re thinking of waiting several months, it may be best to hold off. For example, in that time you may have been exposed to UV rays, used fake tan, or started new medication — all of which can affect your suitability for treatment.

If you’re ready to begin, it works perfectly, as we can start your treatment just one week after your consultation!

What’s included in the patch test and how long does it take?

Your appointment includes a full medical assessment to ensure it’s safe to proceed. If everything looks good, we’ll carry out a small patch test on the treatment area. From there, we can get you booked in and started on your journey to being hair-free 😊

Before Your Laser Patch Test Appointment ✨

To ensure the best results, please follow the guidelines below:

Clean Skin
Arrive with clean skin and no lotions, oils, deodorant, or other products on the area being treated.

Hair Growth
Unlike full treatment sessions (where the area should be shaved), it’s helpful for us to see some hair growth for assessment.
However, please shave a small patch within the treatment area:
• Legs: Shave a hand-sized area on the side, just above the knee.
• Hollywood: Shave a small section along the bikini line.
• Underarms: Shave a 1–2 inch area.

Tanning
Please wait at least 4 weeks after any sun exposure or fake tanning before your patch test (this includes UV rays and spray tans) to ensure safe and effective results.
