π TYPES OF MASSAGE π
Differences in techniques relate to the desired outcome, such as in pre-event massage we aim to reduce physio-psychological tensions but facilitate muscle warm up so use fast pace movements (Arroyo-Morales et al., 2011).
Alternatively, post-event we are aiming to aid cool down therefore slower passive stretches can be used with a focus on relaxation, with light to moderate pressure suggested to reduce pain (Roberts, 2011).
Maintenance is less specific to exercise and is best used as a complementary therapy for a healthy body and mind (Nahin et al., 2016).

πββοΈ CALF STRAIN πββοΈ
Calf strain is a tear to the soleus or gastrocnemius muscles, resulting in a sudden sharp pain in the region and difficulty standing on tiptoes.
New activities such as starting running are often the culprit π΅οΈββοΈ or sudden acceleration or deceleration i.e. sprints in football (Green and Pizzari, 2017).
This can be resolved through relative rest from activity, ice and elevation in the acute phase of injury, passive stretches for the lower leg, massage and education regarding return to activity (Spina, 2007). If youβre struggling with this contact now for personalised treatment and advice to get you back on your feet! ποΈββοΈ
