One of the perks of having incredibly talented in-laws is getting to be inspired by their creativity.
When I was last in York, Izzy Williamson (who is an unbelievably talented lino cut artist) let me have a go at carving my own print and I quickly realised I’d left my artistic abilities back in Leith😂
It did get me thinking though. I might not be much of a lino printer, but I do know nails.
So I took one of my favourite pieces of Izzy’s and interpreted it as a set of nails.
One of my favourite things about nail art is that inspiration doesn’t have to come from other nails. Sometimes the best designs come from looking beyond the beauty industry altogether.
What other art forms should I turn into nail designs next?

Flip it and reverse it - Still on that blooming gel hype. You’ll be pleased to know I finally did my nails after 93746394 weeks. Do as I say, not as I do 🙈

It truly is amazing what a bit of sunshine and a few days off can do for your mood. Got a big ol’ pep in my step ☀️🌸🧡

You may have noticed a few changes around here recently, and honestly, a lot of that started when I went along to .edinburgh
I turned up thinking it would be a great opportunity to network, meet other creatives in the nail industry and maybe learn something new. What I didn’t expect was how much I needed it, or the impact it would end up having on both me and my business.
Looking back, I don’t think I realised quite how stuck I’d become. I’d lost confidence, felt disconnected from my goals, and wasn’t really sure what the next step looked like.
Afterwards, I had the opportunity to work more closely with Zara .creatives Together, we looked at my business, my goals, and how I was using social media. She helped me see social media as a marketing tool rather than another thing on my never-ending to-do list. More importantly, she gave me the encouragement, perspective and little bit of hand-holding I needed to start believing in myself again.
The biggest change has been how I feel now. I feel more energised, more confident in the direction I’m heading, and genuinely excited about what’s next. I haven’t transformed overnight, but I feel like I’ve found my footing again, and I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes both me and Brush’d.
I’m incredibly grateful to Zara .creatives for helping me reconnect with both my business and myself.

One of the best parts of this job is getting to know all my gals and what they do for a living. Don’t let all the chrome and french fool you. We had a very ‘clean girl’ month 😅

It’s only taken me nine years, but I figured now is probably as good a time as any to properly introduce myself…
Hi, I’m Amanda 👋🏼 I’m the face behind Brush’d, a home-based beauty studio in Leith, Edinburgh. I specialise in natural nail gel manicures with a focus on strength, precision and healthy nails. I love creating clean, elevated sets with personality. Think subtle, fun nail art for the corporate girlies who want something a little more interesting 💅🏼
I also offer LVL and HD Brows because I’m fully in favour of leaving an appointment feeling like the best version of yourself.
When I’m not covered in nail dust, I’m usually being managed by my chaotic chihuahua, Foster. It’s very much his world and I’m just living in it 🤪 You’ll usually find me trying to convince him to join me and my boyfriend for an oat flat white or a spicy marg at the weekend 🍸
If you’re new here, I’m so glad you found me. I wanted Brush’d to feel like a space where people can feel comfortable, relaxed and completely themselves.
If you fancy cute nails or a full glow-up moment, the booking link is in my bio ✨

(New prices will take effect on the 1st June 2026)
After taking some time to properly calculate my pricing, I realised I’ve been undercharging by quite a bit for the time, detail, products, and care that goes into each appointment.
To continue offering the quality and experience I want Brush’d to be known for, there will be a small price increase moving forward. This increase is just a starting point for now, and there will likely be further gradual increases in the future as the business continues to grow.
I still want to keep my services as accessible as possible, which is why I’m choosing to increase prices slowly rather than jumping straight to what they realistically should be.
I’m incredibly grateful for all of the support, loyalty, and understanding — it truly means so much to me and allows me to keep building Brush’d Edinburgh into something really special 🧡
