Last week we warmly welcomed back AdvoCard to the Salon as our guests to celebrate the charity’s 30 year anniversary. Where better to celebrate than returning to the very building they worked in for 14 years! 🎉🥳

10 YEARS OF INDIGO HAIR & BEAUTY

I am filled with overwhelming gratitude and joy as we celebrate a decade of Indigo Hair & Beauty. Exactly 10 years ago today Saturday 16th August 2014, Indigo opened its doors for the very first time.

But the journey to Indigo truly began in 2012, when I bid farewell to Ziskas Hairdressing in Meadowbank, where I had the privilege of working for the late Sarahjane Blair, who sadly lost her battle with cancer. After Sarajane’s passing, I was honored to care for her clients, many of whom continue to visit Indigo to this day (you know who you are!). For two years, these loyal clients endured highlights, blow-dries, and perms in a small, cluttered spare room of my home until we finally opened our first salon on Leith Walk. Back then, appointments were made with pencil and paper, online booking was still a novelty, and appointment cards were the norm took place of text reminders. Apple Pay didn’t exist, and the idea of paying with a tap of your phone was still a few years away.

Today, we celebrate not just a business milestone, but a decade of being an integral part of the Leith community and a decade of friendship with our cherished clients. We’ve had the privilege of being part of your lives, sharing in your special moments, and helping you feel your best. Your unwavering support and loyalty have been the core of our success. Your smiles, your stories, your shared moments, and even your tears have turned what once seemed like an impossible dream into a beautiful reality.

In our 10 years, we have welcomed well over 10,000 clients, cut roughly 3 billion strands of hair—equivalent to the weight of about 9,300 hairdryers! We’ve also won numerous hair and beauty awards, including being proud holders, two years in a row, of the ‘Best of Edinburgh’ award at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards.

To my team, past and present—your passion and hard work are what make Indigo what it is today. You are truly an extension of my family, and without you, I wouldn’t be writing this post. Thank you for the busy days, the late nights, the endless standing, the missed breaks, and most importantly, for the love and energy you bring to Indigo and to our clients.

Thank you to the clients of old, the clients of new, the young clients who think the hair chair is a jungle gym, and the mature clients for whom a visit to the salon is, for some, the only trip they make that week. From the bottom of my heart, I extend to you my sincerest thanks for choosing Indigo. Your presence brings an atmosphere of warmth, friendship, and love to our salon.
