For anyone who needs to hear this: There’s a particular kind of frustration that comes when your mind wants to do all the things… but your nervous system quietly says “not today.”

You want to reply to messages.
Be productive.
See people.
Exercise.
Create.
Catch up.
Be the version of yourself you’re used to being.

But your body feels heavy.
Your concentration disappears.
Small tasks feel overwhelming.
Noise feels too much.
You feel tearful, irritable, forgetful, flat, or exhausted for no obvious reason.

This isn’t laziness.
It isn’t weakness.
And it doesn’t mean you’re failing.

A dysregulated or overwhelmed nervous system will often prioritise survival over productivity.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is stop fighting your body and start listening to it.

That might look like:
• reducing stimulation
• lowering expectations temporarily
• resting without guilt
• eating nourishing food
• saying no more often
• taking social pressure off yourself
• getting outside for fresh air
• doing one small thing instead of ten impossible ones

Healing and regulation are rarely linear.
Some seasons are for pushing forward.
Others are for slowing down enough for your body to finally feel safe again.

You are still capable.
You are still enough.
And your worth is not measured by how much you can produce while overwhelmed.
