Laura Taylor and I are hosting a screening of:

Where Olive Trees Weep

Jul 30, 7:00 PM BST

Rum Shack Glasgow

Come along to the Rumshack, Glasgow to show your support and solidarity with the people of Palestine! There will be live poetry readings and a Q and A session after the film screening. Proceeds from ticket sales are donated to MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians).

Where Olive Trees Weep offers a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation. It explores themes of loss, trauma, and the quest for justice.

We follow, among others, Palestinian journalist and therapist Ashira Darwish, grassroots activist Ahed Tamimi, and Israeli journalist Amira Hass. We also witness Dr. Gabor Maté offer trauma-healing work to a group of women who were tortured in Israeli prisons.

Ancient landscapes bear deep scars, having witnessed the brutal reality of ancestral land confiscation, expulsions, imprisonment, home demolitions, water deprivation, and denial of basic human rights. Yet, through the veil of oppression, we catch a glimpse of resilience—deep roots that have carried the Palestinian people through decades of darkness and shattered lives.

This emotional journey bares the humanity of the oppressed while grappling with the question: what makes the oppressor so ruthlessly blind to its own cruelty?

Don't tell me to be positive when I'm being realistic! Don't tell me to keep my head up when you are all losing your head daily over spilled milk! Don't tell me anything when you know nothing of my rotten insides and how I fight myself every day! Yeah suffering is relative but so is patience!

Cancer brings a kind of reflection that doesn't hold back or hide the deepest of truths. It causes demons to spiral and shows the complete inadequacy of hope. Cancer kills!

Yes I get sad. Yes I get scared. Terrified beyond belief! I get angry too. A real visceral rage. I also have heart. And I have love. So much love. And I don't need permission or acceptance or understanding for any of this.

Cancer is also freeing. A whole other type of liberation. With Sartre's haunting words of condemnation and responsibility, I buckle under the weight of my freedom.

Now don't tell me about faith in response. Preaching the forgiveness and understanding of your omnipotent master. Shackling yourself to a smallness that denies the universe in you. I'm ok. Your God will forgive me for this!

I repent daily.

And so begins the mistletoe therapy... 🌱🌿
3 injections per week, for 5 years!

Don't mind me over here playing with the needles! Practice makes perfect apparently 😜😂

Also no make up or filters at this 9am hospital appointment! Can you see my brows and lashes growing back! Woo hoo! Feeling human!

As a half Arab woman, I NEVER thought I'd ever be excited about hair growth! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂😂😂

Try this Aromatic and Soothing Luxury, Herbal Hot Chocolate 🖤

Before the cold nights are gone again, enjoy the last of cozy evening comforts with this beautifully soothing and super yummy, herbal hot chocolate
This is one of my absolute fav go to's for those cold evenings when I need something a little more...

Takes 10 minutes to brew it all up and there's always some left over in the pot for the next day. I don't follow the instructions exactly, I just decoct it all! Leaving the star anise to the last 2 minutes so its not overpowering.

Delicious! Healthy! Calming! Soothing and more-ish!

You can find this recipe and more in the wonderful Sarah Farr's delightful book; Herbal Healing Teas 🍵 🖤
