I make Whole Plant skincare that takes months to grow and harvest and several weeks to handcraft.

Whole-plant skincare means, I use unrefined, complete plant ingredients (whole leaves, roots, and flowers) rather than isolated, lab-synthesised extracts.

This allows the plant’s full spectrum of nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals, fatty acids along with a diverse range of phytonutrients, which work together synergistically to nourish and balance the skin.

Why whole-plant formulations work:
Synergistic Nutrient Delivery - Isolated lab ingredients lack the complex co-factors found in nature. Whole plants retain their natural balance, allowing all their active compounds to work together for enhanced efficacy and superior results.

Potent Antioxidant Protection - Whole plants are exceptionally rich in antioxidants, which neutralise free radicals and defend the skin from environmental stressors like UV radiation and pollution.

Soothing and Anti-inflammatory - Many whole-plant botanicals contain natural, restorative anti-inflammatory properties that help calm irritated skin, reduce redness, and soothe reactive conditions.

Supports Skin’s Intelligence - Instead of forcing the skin to change with harsh chemicals, whole plants feed the skin the essential vitamins it needs to function properly, promoting long-term resilience and overall health.

We evolved with plants, we’ve used them for thousands of years, synthetic lab created ingredients are not living and therefore are not able to impart life to the skin.

Calendula, commonly known as marigolds, are one of the oldest herbal remedies. This bright orange flower has been prized for its medicinal, culinary, ornamental, and cosmetic properties for centuries. Its medicinal history dates all the way back to 900 years, it has been used for centuries to promote wound healing and skin regeneration. It is often used in natural first aid creams and ointments to soothe and heal cuts, scrapes, and burns. Today, the gold blossoms of calendula are a signature remedy for skin ailments such as eczema, acne, abrasions, and dermatitis.

Modern scientific studies have confirmed its exceptional anti-inflammatory properties and effectiveness in helping to heal the skin. It has the ability to reduce redness and swelling and soothe sunburn, rashes and irritations making.

With an abundance of antioxidant carotenoids, flavonoids and triterpenoid compounds, it is effective in reducing damage from free radicals, reducing hyperpigmentation and restoring barrier function.

I use traditional herbal and naturopathic methods to capture the carotenoids, resins and flavonoids. Calendula is such an amazing plant ingredient in skin care, you can find it in all Luibh’s Serums, Balms and Purity Cleanser too.

Our skin is a sophisticated system that has surprisingly simple needs. It can be overwhelmed with complicated and many stepped routines, with ingredients that support a formulation but actually stress the skin. Ingredients like emulsifiers, foaming agents and preservatives.

Luibh is different, firmly rooted in nature and informed by science, only ingredients that support the skin are chosen. Rich in active ingredients from nature, including antioxidants, vitamins A and C to fight free radical damage caused by the sun and the ageing process. B vitamins like niacin to support barrier repair, botanical hyaluronic acid to keep skin plump and hydrated and fatty acids to support healthy skin cell renewal.

Doesn’t your skin deserve a luxurious and supportive skincare ritual?

Borage is a wildflower commonly called ‘starflower’. Because its bright blue shining flowers are rich in nectar Borage is considered one of the best plants for attracting bees.

The oil found in its seeds is one of the richest sources of the omega-6 fatty acid Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA).

Clinically, borage oil has been shown to be an effective in treating skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema, acne and dermatitis and alleviating the redness, inflammation, and moisture loss associated with dry and dehydrated skins.

There is ample evidence showing that borage oil has a significant effect in combating inflammation in acne and rosacea conditions. It’s also been reported that it is effective in supporting trans epidermal water loss and the excessive and pathological growth of skin cells associated with psoriasis.

Borage oil also contains linoleic acid which helps prevent wrinkles and premature ageing. It has a broad range of phytochemicals including potent antioxidants; ferulic acid, vitamins A and C, and barrier supportive B vitamins, including niacin.
