Such a beautiful poem, for me about humanity.
It felt right to share it at this time.
And my favourite line from any poem ever;
'You just have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves'.
It reminds me of the journey of coming back to oneself; unravelling years, lifetimes of conditioning.
This connection to the soft animal of your body i can really relate to through my work; shifting the focus from the intellect of the brain to the intelligence of the 'soft animal of your body'.
This is where our true and deep wisdom is, if we can get quiet enough to hear it ππ»

All set for my first client of 3 today.
In order to keep my business sustainable i see a maximum of 4 clients a day (but usually 3).
Part of the reason clients come back to see me, i believe, is my thorough approach and high standards of client care.
June is full but ive just opened up my diary for Mon 29th June - if you've been struggling to get a June session.
Thanks π«

If someone comes to see me with shoulder pain i'm always curious as to what messages the arms and hands are giving.
The shoulder is part of a kinetic chain with the elbow, wrist and fingers, meaning that each part intrinsicly affects the next. I work holistically so i work with the approach that our body parts are all connected.
During my assessment I refer to physio where appropriate and i do not diagnose.
The arms and hands can sometimes take a back seat to the much required back, neck and shoulders. If you would like an arm focus just let me know π«

Module 4 Seasonal yoga teacher training.
Only just getting round to posting about it and module 5 is just around the corner!
What a year this is turning out to be.
Transformational.
This month ive reintroduced neti pot and oil pulling to my daily practices. Yogic practices for health that i used to do some time ago but fell by the way side.
The season of early Summer - the season of all things connection; to self, to others, connected tissues, interconnectedness in time and space. Space being the element of the season; our place in time and space, space to show up, taking up space. Vastness of...
Anatomically it was the study of the foot and ankle. Discussions around understanding the mind, breathwork, meditation, head stands and yoga nidras.
The class is really finding its stride now. Loving it.
Bring on module 5 this weekend ππ»π«π

Yesterday i did 5 hours of painting.
Yesterday evening my right hand, forearm and shoulder already felt sore from gripping the paint brush and roller.
Although my arms and hands are strong from the work i do, this was a repetitive strain sore from over use of the flexors and shoulder in a way my body is not used to.
Heres what i did last night to help ease it and this morning its 'no too bad' as they say here in Glasgow.
Took a magnesium salt bath to ease the muscles.
Did some self massage of hand, forearm and shoulder.
Used counter stretches working with the wrist; stretching the extensors of the forearm and fingers.
Rotated /spiraled arms gently and slowly to help unwind fascia and connective tissues in the shoulder and entire arm.
I often see clients with repetitive strain injuries so i wanted to share some of the ways i like to support my body after a hard day.
I also feel a great sense of achievment having accomplished something i have never done before ππ»
We dont need to sit for an hr every day in a crossed legged meditation pose to feel the benefits of mindfulness.
There is so much power in the pause. For our nervous system, for our relationships.
Many little moments of stillness make up the big moments. One. Deep. Breath. At. A. Time. ππ»

Client feedback is essential to the overall experience. I encourage clients to let me know if anything needs to be changed throughout the treatment. Often times pressure tolerances change when moving around the body.
β
A therapist can palpate tissue, assess tone, observe movement and adapt their touch.
But they cannot feel your tenderness for you.
Tenderness, discomfort, pressure and familiar symptoms are part of the clientβs experience. That means communication is not optional, it is central to safe, skilled and professional massage.
