The Blushed Bride

After nearly 20 years working in the hair and makeup industry, this Friday, I officially open the doors to my very own studio.

I can still clearly remember making the decision in 2005 to leave the security of regular employment and a steady salary to pursue a career in film and television. It was a leap into the unknown, and the early years were filled with long hours, hard work, and plenty of opportunities paid in "experience" rather than money. But every step helped shape the path that followed.

That journey led to editorial work with The Hamilton Spectator alongside the wonderful Lisa Hannam, magazine shoots through my agency, Behind the Image, television work for the BBC and STV, and several years at CHCH, where I had the privilege of working with anchors, celebrities, and people from all walks of life.

Motherhood brought a new chapter and, with it, a move into the wedding industry. What began as a change in direction grew into a career that I continue to love just as much today as I did when I started. Twenty years on, I still feel incredibly fortunate to do work that brings me so much joy.
Opening this studio feels like the culmination of years of learning, growing, and believing in myself—even when the path wasn't always clear.

To my family, friends, clients, and everyone who has supported me along the way: thank you. I wouldn't be here without you, and I'm so grateful to have such wonderful people in my corner.
After nearly 20 years, this feels less like the end of a journey and more like the beginning of a new one.
