* You’re not shampooing twice – the first wash removes oil and product build-up, the second actually cleanses the hair and scalp.
* You’re not using enough water before applying shampoo. Hair should be thoroughly soaked first.
* You’re using too much or too little shampoo. A small amount is usually all you need, especially for the second cleanse.
* You’re not spending enough time massaging your scalp. Aim for 1–2 minutes to lift oil, dirt, and build-up.
* You’re applying shampoo to the lengths instead of concentrating on the scalp, where oil is produced.
* You’re not rinsing thoroughly, leaving product residue behind.
* You’re using products that aren’t suited to your hair type or scalp
* Heavy styling products, dry shampoo, or hard water can leave build-up that requires a clarifying shampoo occasionally.
* You’re overusing conditioner or applying it too close to the roots, which can leave hair feeling flat and greasy.
* Your brushes and styling tools may need cleaning, as they can transfer oils and product back into freshly washed hair.
