❗️Positive Aspiration ❗️ Aspirating is a crucial safety step when injecting filler into your clients skin. This step involves pulling back on the plunger which causes a small vacuum in the syringe to check for the presence of blood. The presence of blood can mean that your needle has been inserted into a blood vessel and that the treatment should be stopped immediately, the needle removed and repositioned. Aspiration helps to reduce potential complications caused by a vascular occlusion. The complications from a vascular occlusion are tissue necrosis, infection and in some cases blindness. Aspiration also helps to ensure that we are injecting into the correct location in the facial anatomy ensuring optimal results for the requested treatment improving the overall aesthetic outcome for the client. Aspirating is a very simple and quick safety measure which is always practiced here at by myself. Although as a practitioner I carry my emergency kit with me at all times to dissolve filler in the unfortunate circumstance that a vascular occlusion may occur in my clients, I would rather practice safety first rather than practicing complications management.
