Due to my son's recent cancer relapse, I have decided to finish at North. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for me to make. I want to thank the girls for their unrivalled support and their friendship over the last 4.5 yrs. I want to thank my clients for their loyalty and support. This afternoon (22 February) the Prime Minister announced that, all being well, the Personal Care sector can re-open on 12 April under Step 2 of the Government’s roadmap for re-opening. The date of re-opening depends on the rollout of the vaccine, the rate of infections and the impact of any new variants.

The NHBF, together with other sector bodies, is continuing to press the government for a package of support including:

- a Personal Care Relief Fund to keep businesses afloat until they can re-open, and
- a cut in VAT to 5% to enable the hardest-hit businesses to recover once they are open again and operating under government guidelines

These support measures are essential to ensure the hair and beauty sector survives, restarts and recovers in the coming months and we continue to fight for you on this basis.

📣 Breaking news for England

The Prime Minister has today outlined that England will return to a tier system at the end of the current national lockdown. Businesses can therefore open for appointments from 00.01 on Wednesday 2nd December. The details of which areas will be included in which tier will be confirmed on Thursday.

It has been confirmed that ‘personal services’ which includes hair and beauty will not be forced to close under any of the tier levels. The Government also confirmed that the tiers will follow a uniform set of rules across England, preventing local authorities from bringing in any different or additional restrictions in their specific regions.

In light of the PM's announcement I will be contacting customers and try to reschedule as many of the appointments as I can. Xx
