For years in beauty, results were often measured in very visible ways.

Technology. Machines. Collagen stimulation.

And those things have their place.

But after working hands-on with women for decades, I’ve seen something just as important.

When someone is carrying stress every day, the body holds it.

And when that stress reduces, the skin responds.

That’s the work I believe in.

There’s more than one way to approach skin health.

I’ve spent the last few months listening carefully — to my clients and to myself.

What I’ve realised is this: the women who come to see me aren’t just booking treatments. They’re booking space to slow down, release tension, and feel better than when they arrived.

This is the direction my work is evolving in.

"If this resonates, I’m here for you."

Some weeks feel like it’s just one thing after another, don’t they?
A house issue, endless errands, a to-do list that never seems to end.

This week, two of my clients arrived for their Wellbeing Facial feeling exactly like that.

One had been dealing with a water leak at home.
Another had spent the morning racing through chores before coming to see me.

Different days, different stories, but both needed a moment to stop.

Once tucked under the soft blanket, with the bed gently heated and hot basalt stones easing away tension in their shoulders, everything began to slow down.

Their breathing slowed down, gentle music played, and a sense of stillness returned, the kind that lets your body finally rest and your mind let go.

When I finished, my client let out a soft sigh and said,
“That was an hour of heaven… I wish I could do this every day.”

The Wellbeing Facial isn’t just a treatment.
It’s a pause.
A safe space to completely unwind.

🌿 If your week’s felt a little too full, this might be exactly what you need.

Last week, I had to take a few days off with a sore throat and cough — not what I’d planned at all!
I ended up doing something I’m not very good at… resting.

Somewhere between cups of honey and lemon and a bit of Netflix, it struck me how similar this is to our skin.

When we feel unwell, our instinct is to do more — to push through, get things done, fix it quickly.
And we often treat our skin the same way.
When it feels dry, sensitive or out of balance, we reach for new products, exfoliate more, or try to fix it overnight.

But sometimes, the best thing we can do — for ourselves and our skin — is to pause, be patient, and let things calm down.

Our skin barrier can become overwhelmed by too much — too many products, stress, or even changes in the weather.
When that happens, it doesn’t need more steps, it needs time, simplicity, and gentle care.

Healthy skin isn’t about doing more.
It’s about knowing when to step back and give it the space to recover.

A little reminder from my treatment room here in Guildford — sometimes less really is best.

As a skin therapist, here’s something you’ll never hear from the cosmetics industry: those skin type labels like “normal,” “dry,” or “combination”? They’re one-size-fits-all and don’t explain what your skin really needs.

How many times have you stood at a beauty counter, been told you’re “oily,” “dry,” or “combination”… and then been sent home with a bag full of products?

Here’s the thing no one tells you: those skin type labels are one-size-fits-all. They don’t explain why your skin feels the way it does, or what it actually needs to feel comfortable and healthy.

Your skin is unique. It changes with hormones, diet, stress, lifestyle, even the weather. What feels dry this month might feel sensitive next month. And sometimes, the products you’ve been sold are the very things making your skin unhappy.

That’s why I never use cookie-cutter routines. Every treatment and homecare plan I create is completely bespoke — tailored to your skin, your life, and your concerns.

Because your skin is more than a label. 💛

✨ Have you ever felt like your skin doesn’t really fit into one of those ‘types’?

Ever notice how it’s the little habits that change your skin the most?

It’s not always about adding more products. Often, it’s the simple daily habits that quietly make the biggest difference over time.

Here are a few ‘weird but effective’ ones I swear by — and share with my clients:

💄Removing makeup as soon as I’m home. It gives my skin a break from the build-up of pollutants, sweat, excess oils and dirt. A thorough cleanse is key — and I always recommend double cleansing to make sure skin is really clean, while still cared for.

☀️Applying SPF to my ears as well as face, neck & chest. The ears are one of the most common (and most forgotten) places for sun damage and skin cancers. Protecting them is a small habit that makes a big difference.

🧊Keeping ice globes in the fridge. They’re brilliant for lymphatic drainage, calming inflammation and reducing puffiness. Plus, they feel incredible after a long, busy day.

🍓Adding antioxidant-rich foods like berries & walnuts to my morning yogurt. Antioxidants help protect skin cells from damage, support skin health, and even boost your gut microbiome — which is more connected to your skin than most people realise.

Individually they might not seem like much, but together these habits support healthier, calmer skin that actually copes better with midlife changes.

What’s one little skin habit you swear by? Or if you’re not sure where to start, drop me a DM — I’d love to help 💗
