These are the before and during procedure pictures from my client's Aqualyx treatment today.
Like many of us she is conscious of her 'mum tum' and decided to give Aqualyx a go.

Aqualyx is perfect for this type of localised, stubborn fatty area, that no matter what you try and do to shift it, it just doesn't want to budge!

As you can see, the area to be treated is mapped out into squares which are each injected, using a tiny needle, with deoxycholic acid mixed with local anaesthetic. Deoxycholic acid is a secondary bile acid produced by intestinal bacteria acting on primary bile acids secreted by the liver. This acid then begins to destroy the fat cells which are then drained from the body via the lymphatic system.
Each treatment is finished off with a gentle lymphatic massage.
The deoxycholic acid will continue to work for between 4 to 6 weeks. During this time some tenderness will be felt, especially when massaging the area and its once this tenderness has gone that the area will be ready for the next treatment (if required) and so on until desired results are met.

Post treatment, some swelling and bruising can occur for up to 3 weeks but each person reacts differently, so whilst some may not experience any swelling or bruising, others may experience more so.

Aqualyx is a solution of deoxycholic acid, a compound which has been used in various fields of medicine since it's discovery. Present in the human body, deoxycholic acid is used in the emulsification of fats for absorption in the intestine.

Using a series of tiny, fine needles, Aqualyx is injected into the problem area of fat where it destroys the fat cells and eliminates them via your body's lymphatic system.
Depending on the area being treated, a course of 2 to 6 treatments is often required at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks apart.
The treatment itself is performed with minimal discomfort as the Aqualyx solution is mixed with a local anaesthetic. However, some people may experience some swelling in the treated area for up to a few weeks, along with some tenderness and/or bruising.

Aqualyx is designed for those hard to shift areas and is not a weight loss solution. Although the targeted fat cells are destroyed permanently, if a healthy lifestyle is not maintained, the surrounding fat cells will grow in size and eventually multiply back to the treated site.
