Rosacea, sensitive & redness prone skin.

I have a fair few clients who suffer from some form of this & so I thought it would be helpful to share some information on this skin condition.

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that is characterised by by facial flushing, redness and visible blood vessels. Typically it appears on the cheeks, nose, forehead & chin and typically affects those between the ages of 30-50 & can be more aggressive in men.

The cause of this condition is still unknown however theories indicate it could be caused by
An immune reaction to a natural mite (demodex mite) that lives in our skin. This along with bacteria can aggregate a sensitive & redness prone skin.
unstable vessels
genetics & sun exposure. Pollutants & ultraviolet radiation produce free radicals which cause our skin to weaken & become dull.
Transepidermal water loss. This leads to a sensitive and dehydrated skin.

Since the skin is compromised and unable to properly protect itself, the body sends blood to the triggered areas as a defence mechanism. It may also introduce heat, redness and inflammation which is easily detected on the skins surface.
