WHAT IS COLLAGEN ?

It is the ultimate ‘ buzz ‘ word in the aesthetics & skin industry but what even is it ?

Collagen is a protein produced in our bodies. It is largely responsible for retaining elastin in the skin, meaning high collagen = youthful skin.

So how do we encourage its production ? We can help it naturally, through high protein food & vitamin C rich consumables. But we can also give it a nudge through treatments.

Microneedling / collagen induction therapy takes advantage of our bodies wound healing response. Small micro injuries are caused to the skin and the skins response is to activate fibroblasts - this is how collagen & elastin increases.

Polynucleotides take collagen production to a whole new level. PDRN or polynucleotides main function is to repair damaged/broken DNA - when injected in to the skin they create the perfect environment to encourage fibroblasts and as we see in microneedling, fibroblasts = collagen production.

So collagen is not something we can simply put on our face - we must work with our bodies to increase our collagen from within.

Is combined better ?

The Dermaplane essentially preps the skin - removes dead skin/hair/dirt/oils and provides that smooth, glass finish. It also allows products to work better because of that layer of dead skin has been removed.

Then, when we go in with the microneedling pen to encourage collagen production the serums can pe*****te deeper and we achieve even better results than the collagen treatment as a stand alone facial.
