🖤 Accepting compliments.
🖤 Looking ridiculously cute.
🖤 Supervising absolutely everything I do.
🖤 Keeping a close eye on any snacks that might accidentally fall on the floor.

The question I get asked most is…

“Will she be there when I come?”

The answer is… probably! But don’t worry she will be chilling in the lounge waiting to be let out if you’re not a doggy person.

Roxy is very good at reading the room and is more than happy to retire to the lounge for some serious squirrel spotting if you’d rather have your appointment without a four-legged assistant 🐿️

No offence taken whatsoever 🙂‍↔️

For everyone else, expect the occasional little hello and the possibility of falling completely in love with her before you leave.

One thing I wish more people knew about looking after their extensions this Summer…

Everyone talks about sun damage, hard water and chlorine.

But one of the biggest causes of wear and tear I see is actually friction 😖

Things like your seatbelt rubbing in the same place every day. A cross-body bag catching your hair. Rubbing it dry with a towel. That necklace with a scratchy surface snagging around your neck. Going to bed with it damp after a day at the beach.

They’re little things that don’t seem important but over weeks and months they all add up.

If you’ve invested in extensions (or even if you’re just trying to look after your own hair), here are a few simple things that really make a difference:

🤍 Pop it into a loose plait for long journeys and bedtime.
🤍 Squeeze your hair dry with a towel instead of rubbing it.
🤍 Rinse it with fresh water before and after swimming if you can.
🤍 Use a silk scrunchie rather than a tight bobble.
🤍 Make sure your roots and bonds are properly dry before bed.

I’ve been fitting extensions for over a decade now and honestly it’s rarely one big thing that causes problems.

It’s the little habits we don’t even think about 🫨

BUT… here’s the part that blows my mind even more…

Yep. THREE. YEARS. OLD.

This hair is SIXTEEN MONTHS OLD!! Yep… 1️⃣6️⃣ months!!

No fancy lighting, no editing, no smoke and mirrors… just incredible quality hair that’s been worn, washed, curled, straightened, lived in and loved. 🤍

This is exactly why I bang on about investing in quality. It might cost more initially, but when it’s still looking this good 16 months later, it suddenly makes perfect sense 🙌🏼

And yes… aftercare matters too! You can’t treat extensions like you’ve dragged them through a hedge backwards and expect miracles. 😂

One of the questions we get asked a lot is “can you dye the extensions?”

The honest answer is yes, but we really don’t recommend it unless it’s absolutely necessary. The quality of the hair is everything and colouring extensions can affect how soft, shiny and long-lasting they stay.

Once extensions are coloured, they can become drier, harder to manage and more prone to tangling over time. Even when done professionally, it can still shorten the lifespan of the hair, which is why we’d always rather avoid it where possible.

“Oh no 😩☀️ Why has my hair turned orange on holiday?!”

If your blonde, highlighted or extension hair suddenly goes warm, brassy or full-on orange in the sun - you’re not imagining it!It’s usually caused by a mix of UV exposure, minerals, salt water, sun cream and oxidation.

Here’s what’s actually happening 👇🏼

☀️ UV rays break down cool tones in the hair first ☀️

Ash, beige and icy pigments fade much faster in strong sun, leaving behind the warmer underlying tones underneath. This is the copper or bright orange tinge you see.

💦 Minerals + metals cling to the hair 💦

Pools, hard water and even sea spray can leave copper, iron and mineral deposits on the hair. Blonde hair grabs onto these easily, especially porous hair and extensions.

🧴Sun cream can stain hair🧴

Believe it or not! Certain SPF ingredients mainly avobenzone can react with minerals in water and create an orange or peachy discolouration. This is REALLY common around the front hairline and bottom ends where you hair will be touching your back full of sunscreen 🤦🏼‍♀️

🌊 Salt water + heat dry the hair out 🌊

Dry hair becomes more porous, which means it absorbs more minerals and oxidises faster. Extensions are especially prone to this because they don’t receive natural oils from the scalp.

✨Why extensions often go orange faster✨

Extension hair has usually already been lifted and toned before you even wear it, so strong sun, heat and minerals can strip the toner quickly and expose warmth underneath.

How to help prevent it:
• UV protection spray for hair (without avobenzone!)
• Wet hair before swimming with tap water and lather in conditioner.
• Keep sun cream away from the hairline where possible
• Use a chelating treatment after holidays/swimming (Malibu C Hard Water sachets)
• Blue shampoo helps tone but won’t remove mineral build-up for this use MALIBU C HARD WATER SACHETS FIRST!!
• Hydration masks are essential

And no it doesn’t mean the hair is bad quality. Even expensive blonde hair can oxidise in the wrong conditions.

Lastly I can provide a shampoo and conditioner that will also help reduce the colour change 👌🏼
