🫶🏼…..stepped back into the salon yesterday for this beauty! Felt good to be back.
A longtime client who I hadn’t seen for 3 years needed a touch up on her brows, eyeliner and lips 👌🏽

✋🏽 I’m still closed as a full time salon business, but if you need a touch up and want me, just drop me a message as I’m going to do clients once a month just for now x

If anyone’s interested…. I’m going to be selling 80% of my equipment over the next month. Please share, I’ve got ring lights, sinks, oak wooden unit, file drawers, beauty saddle stool, tattoo equipment never used, a few tattoo devices if anyone’s interested in taking up semi permanent make up! And loads of generic beauty stuff.

We are in the process of converting the room into a livable bedroom so it all needs to go asap!

(Ps this doesn’t mean I’m retiring completely, I’ll be back in the future so I’m hanging onto a few of my prized possessions!)

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the closure of Rachels Retreat after 10 wonderful years in business.

🥰 I’ve built an outstanding and loyal clientele that I will be sad to lose but it’s time for my next chapter after losing my mum.

🧖🏽‍♀️ As some of you know, I casually worked part time for a big hotel chain as a spa therapist. I have now moved over to this company full time for a “normal life” with less stress and responsibility so my heart and brain can relax & recover.

📆 I will be officially closing the business on the 31st March to coincide with the tax year so if you have an appointment this month or need one then please drop me a message.

And on that note, I share with you our most treasured photo which was our last outing together with mum 💓

“The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business”

Running a business is extremely hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

People expect you to be available 24/7 and at the drop of a hat because “you work for yourself so you can make time” unfortunately this is not the case most of the time.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance ever.

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

These were done back in December and I totally forgot to post them - until the lovely lady herself popped into see me this afternoon for an eyebrow wax! The healed results are amazing and it was so nice to hear how happy she was 🥰
