1. Find a well ventilated space. You don't want to be breathing in that acetone!

2. Bring out the nail file. Slowly but surely sand down the top layer of polish - but not all the polish. Basically, you're removing the shine.

3. Coat the skin around the nail - with a thick cream or cuticle oil - to protect them from the acetone.

4. Prepare a bowl of acetone, and soak in some cotton balls. Apply then to the nails.

5. Wrap the nails in tin foil, and leave for around 10 or so minutes.

6. Check your progress ~ the polish should look as though it's falling off the nail. If it doesn't fully remove - give it a little elbow grease.

7. Last of all, after your nails are back to their natural state, hydrate them in coconut oil for 10 or so minutes. After, apply cuticle oil.
.. And that is how to safely and effectively, remove your gel nail polish!
