Maternal whooping cough vaccine- make sure you get it!

In 2022, average vaccine uptake of the whooping cough vaccine by pregnant women across England had dropped to 61.5%, its lowest level since 2016.

The vaccine is given to pregnant women to help protect babies against whooping cough during their first weeks of life.

The advice for pregnant women is to speak to their GP or midwife if they are not sure whether they have had the vaccine.
