• important update •
I think what we’ve all been given this last year is more time. For me this time has allowed me to take a step back and evaluate what is important to me and the areas of my life I want to focus on. It’s also made me realise we can’t do everything and be everything to everyone as it will likely end up with burnout. I currently have 2 jobs and run 2 businesses 🤯 and realised when things stopped a bit last year something has to give. You’ll know my passion in life is helping others and using my experiences of illness to do this. This is linked closely with my work as a mental health ambassador, is also the purpose of and links in with my work in cancer screening for the NHS. So what’s left to give? My job as a 💋 I LOVE how make up can be a powerful tool in increasing self esteem and lifting mood and will continue to guide and help others with their choices around this (should they ask!). But I’ve decided I will no longer be offering my services as a bridal makeup artist and instead have been sending enquiries on to others. I’m excited to work on all my lovely brides in 2021 but at the end of the year this aspect of my life will come to a close. I’m not sad about it as have had so many amazing memories doing what I love. Painting my best friends faces for their big days, travelling all over the UK and further afield to weddings and playing a part in many peoples special day has been magical. But my direction has changed and the kids are growing up so fast so I want to be around for them more and concentrate on other areas of my life. Thanks to all you wonderful women who I’ve had the pleasure of painting and who knows, I’m sure I’ve got a few party make ups/events left in me. Never say never ....

❤️ Self Love & Lipstick 💋
When these pics popped up on my feed this morning I couldn’t believe it was two years ago I hosted my first ever event. And what a night it was. The room was packed with loads of amazing ladies all supporting one another ... with the aim to talk openly and honestly about motherhood and life in general. The highs and the lows. No pretence. No perfections. Far from it to be honest 🤦🏻♀️ My passions in life are mental health, make up and motherhood so I wanted to incorporate all these things into an event .... hence how Self Love and Lipstick was born💄
I believe all these topics are interlinked and things we can all relate to. Mental health affects us all and I think I’ll struggle to find someone that doesn’t feel better or more uplifted after applying a slick of lippy 💋 I’d been to a couple of events in London hosted by the lovely who is a mental health advocate with one of her messages being just coz someone looks like they’ve got it all together doesn’t mean they do. So true. I wanted to recreate something similar up north so was thrilled when Jo agreed to be my guest speaker on the panel. Alongside and made the panel complete 🙌🏼
Who knows when I’ll be able to host another event in person but until then I’ll continue to share openly to try break the stigma of mental health. As now more than ever we need to keep our connections and conversations flowing ❤️

• Goodbye lipstick effect .... hello eyes • Apparently lipstick sales have plummeted due to people wearing masks 😷 so now it’s all about the ‘above the mask beauty’... Eyes, brows & lashes 👀 Lipstick for me and many others is a mood enhancer and no day, no mood or no outfit can’t be improved by a slick of lippy 💋 But for now, I’m all about the eyes .... smoky eyes, false lashes and bold brows. When done right, brows are so important for framing the eyes and lifting the face. General rule is to stick to 1-2 shades darker if you have light hair and if you have dark hair keep them light enough to look natural. The attention should always be on the eyes not the brows. Application tip: brush brows upwards then fill in with product using small, feathery strokes. Go lighter on the inner part of brow then darker as you work outwards. As always in my opinion LESS IS MORE 😘

Caught my reflection in the sunlight last night and thought this shot was quite cool. What you think? 🤔 To be fair when you’re wearing a red lip that can pretty much make anything look good 😘 This is my new red/coral Summer colour ‘Summer Tease’ by which I love as it’s a more subtle colour for this time of year. It’s actually a liner I’ve used to line & fill in the lips which I find lasts for ages and gives a gorgeous matte finish. If I’d remembered to pack my clear gloss 🤦🏻♀️ I’d have applied that to the centre of my lips for an extra juicy, plumper look too....
What’s your Summer go to colour? 💋

Masks are an important accessory for us at the moment whether we like it or not 🤷🏻♀️ so I thought I’d treat myself to this gorgeous fabric It is machine washable so most hygienic a mask can be I guess, although is any are worn for a prolonged period of time can cause acne and other skin irritation around the mouth - also called ‘maskne’ Makes sense really as masks provide the perfect humid environment for bacteria to grow in our skin leading to a breakout. But for obvious reasons we can’t ditch the masks but there are ways we can prevent these localised breakouts. So, how I hear you ask? 🤔
The main ways are to cleanse & exfoliate regularly to help remove the sweat and dead skin cells (nice!) rather than it clogging your pores. Salicylic acid is a good ingredient to look out for in your products as well as one of my faves - hyaluronic acid which has a hydrating effect if you suffer from dryness. Also another top tip is to use oil free skin care and make up, especially under a mask. You might want to avoid foundation in that area altogether and instead replace with a high SPF moisturiser- not only for better comfort and to avoid rubbing but also to avoid mask ‘tan lines’ 😷 Prob nothing to worry about in the country at the moment but can you imagine?! 😂

💫 Get your Glow on it’s Friday 💫
Today has felt the most Friday-ish for a long time as we’ve got some lovely plans for the weekend starting with (socially distanced) drinks tonight with the school mums to celebrate the end of term. Okay, so it might not feel the same as other years but we’re marking it with some fizz in a mates garden. Finlay is back at footy training 🙌🏼 and I’ve had a rare hour to myself so decided to dig out some make up I’ve not worn for a while and make a bit of effort. This is for sure the first time I’ve worn a highlighter since March 💫 so that’s worth celebrating in itself along with the fact us and can start work again on the 1st August 🥂 Happy Weekend! 💋

The Government update yesterday has thankfully allowed certain parts of the beauty industry to resume as of Monday, however as ‘no treatments are allowed on the face’ it’s definitely not given us make up artists the green light to start our work as it would be near on impossible 🤦🏻♀️ To be honest I wasn’t really expecting anything different as applying make up is as pretty up close and personal as it can get so in the meantime I’m going to concentrate my energy on my mental health work and my side hustle business 🌱 I don’t often talk about being a brand ambassador for Arbonne because in reality MLM can have a bit of a bad reputation but it’s actually a really savvy opportunity and a great thing when done properly 👍🏼 When I started this business it was always as my Plan B and a bit of a reserve if I ever needed any extra income. And if there ever was a time when I needed this it is now. Those of you that follow me I hope you know that I am authentic in what I talk about and would never discuss anything or share things I didn’t believe in. Thats why I use these products - the nutrition, skincare & make up - and share them with others. But I probably don’t do this enough. Why? For fear of what people might think 🤷🏻♀️ That’s my issue I need to get over as I don’t hesitate when recommending other make up brands and products or restaurants I’ve been to and this is exactly the same. Only difference with Arbonne is that I make a very small commission on what I sell. And actually, is that such a bad thing? It’s income for me and my family which to be honest is in short supply in the current climate 😬 So I’m putting it out there, I’d love you to have a look through the catalogue (link below) or ask my advice on any of the products and you’ll be sure to get my honest opinion to best suit your needs. I’ve helped so many women in the past just by recommending skincare packages or a switch up of their make up bag which for me is what it’s all about. Confidence, self love and women supporting each other 💋

Ok so I might not be too hot on nailing the natural poses like so many of you on here .... hats off to you that make it look so easy 😬 Think I’ll leave that to the experts and stick to what I know. Which is make up, skincare and colour 💋 As you can see I love a Summer black outfit as much as the rest of you but by wearing black we might not be making the most of our features and bringing them to life. There’s a simple way to do that and something I believe to be a vital beauty hack we should all be aware of... knowing our undertone. What is that you might ask? 🤔 Well, it’s what goes on underneath the skin and doesn’t change by season like our skin tone. It is defined as cool, warm or neutral. Once we’ve grasped that we can adjust and wear colours to make us look younger, brighter and even appear to have whiter teeth. Who doesn’t want that? You can have a go at working out your undertone by looking at the colour of your veins on your wrist. Blue/purple veins? Probably a cool. Greeny veins? You’re a warm. And if you’re finding it hard to tell then you’re a neutral. Also, what jewellery suits you best? Put your personal preference aside and look to see which looks best on your skin. Silver = cool. Gold = warm. Once you’ve figured that out you can adjust your make up, hair and clothes to wear the colours that will make your eyes pop, skin brighten and look younger. And I can help you with this. If you want a bespoke colour consultation comment below or send me a DM. I’d be happy to help 😘

Being a I know first hand the benefit of good when it comes to applying the perfect flawless base and making your look the best it can and stay on for longer. Your skin directly reflects what’s going on inside your body as well as what you’re putting on it. For example, if you aren’t looking after your gut health that can cause skin conditions such as breakouts, eczema or areas of redness. Ageing can also have an effect on your skin as with time, the body stops producing collagen in abundance. is a protein that effectively holds the skin together - hence why as we age our face isn’t as tight as it once was 😬 I’m turning 40 next year so decided to up my game to include a collagen boosting drink to take each morning. I’ve been taking it consistently for a month now and I’m amazed by the results (even if I do say so myself 😂). My skin feels smoother, there are less visible lines and it has a healthy glow 💫 This photo shows my skin with no highlighter and only a small amount of cc cream and translucent setting powder. I put that down to this drink containing the wonder ingredient hyaluronic acid that I believe everyone that wants younger looking skin needs to have in their life ☺️ It can be found in lots of skincare now that companies are realising the benefits of this but by drinking it I believe that has made the most difference as skin reflects what you put in your body as well as on it
If you have any skin issues you want advice on or would like more information on the skin elixir drink send me a message and I’d be happy to help 😊
