I did them on freshly washed hair
I have mixed feelings ๐๐พโโ๏ธ๐ฅน๐
On one hand the curls were super defined but It didn't give me the volume I wanted when I separated them.
I suppose the type of curl I achieved was not what I was going for. I felt like a had a mop on my head ๐โบ๏ธ
On the other hand I found the rods to be much easier to use than perm rods. There is a lot less hair on the rods when I take them down.
I will definitely try again with a different method... the aim being to achieve a different type of โฐ
Have you tried flexi rods? Did you like the results?

โ๏ธResearchers estimate that 90% of people in the world have black or brown hairโ๏ธ
There are many different hues between black and brown and this is determined by GENETICS.
Two functioning copies (one from each parent) of a gene that produces melanin determines our exact hair color.
There are so many interesting facts surrounding the GENETICS of natural hair colour. I'll list a couple here ๐๐พ then I'll share others on threads so go check them out.
โ๏ธPheomelanin causes light or red hair
โ๏ธThe many shades of brown like brown-ebony, brown-mahogany and brown-oak is due to a gene variation called allele
โ๏ธBlack and brown hair strands are thicker than blonde hair
What category do you think you fall into ebony, mahogany or oak?

I usually style my hair like this out of necessity. This is normally when I have to meet friends and I'm pressed for time. I put my hair in two puffs and go. I usually add oil or gel after my Aloe Juice and Leave-in.
What's your quick fix hairstyle when it's washday but you need to be out the door right after?

You might have to look back to between 3 and 6 months to see which event might have caused this level of shedding.
The good news is this condition is temporary and once it has peaked at around 6 months the growth cycle gradually goes back to normal.
Check out the stories to see the entire hair growth cycle.
Have you heard of or experienced this condition? If so, did your hair slip back into its normal cycle after 6 months?

Happy Saturday lovelies ๐
I've been enjoying this spring weather and letting my hair out โ๏ธ๐
I've been wearing braid outs a lot and I'm loving this medium length life.
I've styled them on freshly washed shunken hair and stretched hair (african threading and blow drying)
In this instance my hair was blow dried.

As per request we're going to look into the factors that affect hair growth
The aim is to provide a clear picture of what you need to look at if you are struggling to retain length.
The first thing that comes to mind, from my observation, is PRODUCTS.
What products did you use to grow your hair?...is a common question.
However, there is sooo much more to consider if your aim is to grow healthy hair.
What's your number one question when it comes to length retention?

Retaining length has been a struggle for me.
I have fine, medium porosity hair that perhaps needs to be in a low manipulation protective style more often that not.
My hair is prone to breakage and here I was applying heavy butters and styling it daily for the office, or the gram.
Even with all the knowledge I'd gained through hours of research it took me a really long time work out how to turn all these great hair care practices into length retention for my hair.
I felt like there was also a hormonal issue that affected my ability to retain length. That's why it took a couple of changes like working from home, not using heavy products in my hair and getting pregnant for me to finally see some length.
I'll provide a proper hair update including post partum shedding shortly.
Have a blessed day lovelies ๐
Let me know if you've had similar struggles.

Whether you apply one of these methods or all three like I do it will make DETANGLING and caring for your kinks and curls so much easier.
It locks on all the MOISTURE and goodness deposited by your deep conditioning treatments.
I've covered pH balance and cool temperature...check out my saved stories.
After deep conditioning I always sprits my hair with ๐ผ๐ก๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐

I store both of them in the ๐ง๐๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง because I learnt from research that the right pH balance and cool temperatures lock in moisture and provide sheen or shine.
My go to gel as a new natural was flaxseed gel. It was great for daily use and it was cost effective.
I also stored it in the ๐ง๐๐๐ง๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง.
Do you use these methods already? or are they new to you?

As you know your ends are really important because they're the oldest part of your hair.
They've been exposed to the most wear and tear which makes them more vulnerable.
The simple act of sealing your ends can keep them on your head.
