BLOG POST #1 - The many projects that I have at one time
Why did I ever think it was a good idea to start three projects at once?
I have one project downstairs, two projects upstairs and an irresistible urge to work on them all at once! I kid you not, I always think 'If you do a row at a time on all of them at the same time, they'll get done quicker.' (I tried this once a couple of years ago at Christmas, it did not work. It failed... spectacularly).
Every time I tell myself, "One at a time.", then my brain goes, "But... pretty yarn. Start a new one."
Does anyone else get this with projects of any kind or is it just me?!
Hey, everyone!
After many months of being in limbo with the Kay's Creations page, I have finally decided what to do with it. It's going to undergo a revamp!
As you all know, last year I decided to close the business/orders portion of Kay's Creations and focus on making blankets for rescue cats instead.
What I never did was edit the page to suit the new style of Kay's Creations. What do I mean by this? Let me tell you.
I didn't delete old posts from the business days of Kay's Creations, this is important for me because it represents the change that has happened within the Kay's Creations page.
What does this mean for Kay's Creations going forward?
From 5/4/26 (today) all old posts from the business days of Kay's Creations will be deleted.
From 6/4/26 (tomorrow) the nature of Kay's Creations will switch to a blog-style page. Detailing the good, the bad, and the tangles of knitting, crocheting and making cat blankets for rescue cats. (Yes, I just make cat blankets these days!)
I hope you all will still support the page!
Thank you

The next round of cat blankets are complete!
I can usually make around 5 or 6 a month. At the minute, I'm really enjoying crocheting the cat blankets instead of knitting them.
I might crochet all of them going forward, I feel like I can get the right width and accurately measure the height of the blankets.
What do you think?
Note: please check image description on images one and two for explanations.
Images three and four also have bonus explanations!

My most recent project:
Gathering up all my old yarn, undoing all my old projects that were taking up space and putting it into balls
Now it is time to crochet a blanket!

I have made some more cat blankets!
I have made some in different designs this time, just to try out different ways to make them.

Next project on the needles is...
A sunset themed cat blanket!
I will be using red hearts super saver yarn in cherry red pumpkin to make an adorable cat blanket.
I am loving working with this yarn, its so soft and works up quickly. Making it perfect for a quick project.
Let me know what you think of the colours!

Its finished!
This gorgeous blanket is fresh off of my needles and just needs its ends tucking in.
I love the colours on it and I love the yarn I used as well. The only thing I would do differently is reduced the amount of stitches on my needle.
I think I cast on 130 for this blanket but I think I'll reduce to about 90-100 for the next one.
The next colours will be pink and purple 💜

Happy Saturday, everyone! First post of the new year!
This year, I'm focusing solely on cat and dog blankets.
I have made a few already this year with my scrap yarn that I had left over. Currently, I have three balls of scrap yarn left.
I have also made two blankets out of yarn cakes that I was gifted at christmas
At present, I am working on two cat blankets. One using a big ball of purple yarn I have left over and the other with some yarn I got at christmas
The colours mean:
Spring green - for the green grass of spring
Blue - for the clear sky
Orange - tulips/ daffodils
White - cherry blossom 🌸
What do you think of the colour choice?

Happy Boxing day, everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely christmas yesterday!
In the next coming days, I will share the lovely yarn my family got me for christmas and a picture of the blankets I made for christmas (I apologise for not doing it sooner, I'm terrible at remembering to do it!)
Just a quick reminder: I'm sharing the picture of the yarn to show all of you what I was gifted yesterday, not to brag.
I know I don't have to say this, but some people on the Internet can misinterprete those types of posts.
Thank you 😊

Happy Tuesday, everyone! How are you all doing today?
My Christmas making is officially complete! The projects are finished and all the ends are tucked in.
There has also been a plot twist... I now enjoy tucking in ends!! I find it satisfying seeing blank spaces where the ends used to be, but that's just me!
That now means that ALL of my projects for 2025 are complete and I get to start on the 2026 projects eight days early.
My main focus for 2026 will be making cat blankets for charity (my usual projects, I know!)
Either today or tomorrow, I will post a picture of all the blankets I made for Christmas to show you all.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Happy Saturday, everyone! How is everyone doing today?
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been busy making a new batch of cat blankets to donate. I also ended up making a dog blanket!
How did I end up making a dog blanket, I hear you ask? Well, let me tell you the story...
After undoing all the Christmas coasters I had made earlier in the year, I was left with a big ball of chunky yarn that required a 7mm hook. I thought to myself "I can use this to make a cat blanket. Its a chunky yarn so it will work up nice and quick and it will be about the right size."
It did not work up as quick as I thought (although that's not a bad thing) and it ended up bigger than I thought it would be.
So it has now ended up as a dog blanket and will be donated along with the cat blankets.
The cat blankets aren't perfect nor are they aesthetically pleasing but they are unique, soft and squishy for the cats.
Take a look!

Hey, everyone! Just a quick update on what I have been doing...
As you all know, I have completed ALL my christmas present making! I have made a start on tucking in the ends and it has gone so well!
Yesterday I got all the projects out, grabbed my darning needle and just got to work. I managed to complete four scarves and 1 and half blankets!
It went a lot quicker than I thought it would!
I have also been working on using up the rest of my stash by making cat blankets. This is also going really well, I have completed two so far and started the third one yesterday!
To summarise: everything is going so smoothly and I'm loving it!
