In Cologne: Orange, Pia sought to explore the traditional cologne structure by utilising every raw material from the orange tree: bitter and sweet orange oils, petitgrain (the leaves and twigs), neroli oil (steam distilled flowers) and orange blossom absolute (solvent extracted flowers), alongside cedarwood and oakmoss to represent the tree itself.

The result is a simultaneously uplifting and relaxing fragrance that evokes dappled light through the trees of an orange grove. Cologne: Orange is timeless freshness.

Unveiling two new Lab Editions - LIBRIDO and THÉ TEA.

LIBRIDO is a torrid affair with the printed word - evoking new and worn paperbacks, fresh ink and glossy magazines, with a hint of an impossibly handsome bookseller.

THÉ TEA is a study of tea - twists of steam, infusions of Jasmine petals, brews of dried jade and smoked black leaves, all steeped in emerald.

Today is 10 years since Nick & Pia officially paired up as OLFICTION

Over that time we’ve:
- created hundreds of fragrances for brands of all kinds: perfumes, candles, diffusers, bath & body, skincare, exhibitions, theatre and press
- worked at every level of the trade, from indies and start ups through major distributors and ingredients manufacturers to FMCG groups and the big 5
- published our first book, Demo Accords
- launched our own brands, with & Lab Editions
- started with the support of fellow independents

The lab team has been busy in two parallel worlds: the perfumes taking shape for our clients - of which you’ll be seeing more soon - and the perfumes being created for our own brand. This snapshot is of a single evaluation session for just one perfume. Each little vial represents a trial with a difference (in this case, one material in each was dosed differently). Daily trials and analytical smelling are a vital part of creation.

Pia has returned from Lisbon after being invited to attend the Awards - having been presented the Septimus Piesse Visionary Award!

Congratulations to Pia Long! Pia is a champion of nuance and understanding, and committed to shining a light on how perfume is created. In response to the proposed EU regulation, she rallied perfumers around the world to champion our craft and self-guidance, with a victory in furthering the discussion around regulations between perfumers and policymakers.

As a perfumer, member of IFRA, International Society of Perfumer-Creators, and the British Society of Perfumers, Pia is a committed advocate for fragrance creators, and continues to work in the heart of an international community to advocate for nuanced understanding of perfumery.
