Dwindling brings together eleven artists from Lincoln and London whose work is inspired by regional games and traditions from the places where they grew up. Through painting, sculpture, installation, film and participatory works, the exhibition explores how these games change, disappear or survive through memory, storytelling and reinvention. Rather than treating games as fixed traditions, Dwindling looks at how play evolves, reflecting on what is lost—and what can still be rediscovered—when shared local customs begin to fade.

We had a fantastic private view last night — a really great turnout and a beautifully curated show with some excellent work and a lovely overall atmosphere. If you missed it, don’t worry — the exhibition is now open for the next two weekends.
It runs Fridays and Saturdays, 12–4pm, and is definitely worth a visit. It was also great to meet members of LAX in person.
Below are a few images and some further information about the show.
Wicked Money Await is a group exhibition of LAX members exploring the potential of artist-led activity to challenge traditional structures of art production.
At a time when our membership is split more or less equally between Leeds and London, it feels timely to examine problematic notions of ‘centre’ and ‘periphery’ within a visual arts context, and to celebrate collectives, studios, and artist-led spaces as de-centring sites of exchange. The artists in Wicked Money Await carry layered histories, experiences, interests, and expertise, which they excavate and map through their diverse practices. Where people and practices meet, they affect change in one another. To acknowledge ourselves as nodes in translocal networks is to return agency to the artist, outside of the systems and markets that can sometimes seem to contain them.
This exhibition marks the first time LAX has shown work collectively in a place located roughly halfway between Leeds and London. In combination with General Practice’s track record of supporting exchange with other artist-led initiatives, this feels like a fitting opportunity to acknowledge the mutually constitutive nature of our relationships and our work. In a very real sense, we make each other.
Open: Fridays and Saturdays, 12–4pm, and by appointment (DM general-practice.net)
Where: General Practice, 25 Clasketgate, Lincoln, LN2 1JJ
Please note: General Practice is on the top floor and is only accessible by stairs.

We’re currently delighted to be hosting Emily in the space for a two-week residency. Supporting Lincolnshire-based artists is an important part of what we do, and it’s wonderful to have the opportunity to work with Emily. Here’s a little more about her and her practice.
Emily Collyer is an artist and designer living and working in Lincoln, known for her illustrative and positive depictions of the female, q***r body.
As she reflects on current social and political conversations around female, q***r and trans bodies, Emily uses the space at General Practice Studios to adapt her practice. She explores how women can embrace their pleasure and joy through the sickening, in a world obsessed with trad-wifery, clean girl aesthetics and puritanism. Engaging with body horror and camp in a close capacity, she examines how the two unexpectedly overlap and takes visual inspiration from titles such as John Carpenter’s The Thing and Ridley Scott’s Alien, as well as the drag queen Divine and camp icons Grace Jones and Liza Minelli.
Emily uses their residency at gP to develop their painting practice, working for the first time straight onto raw canvas fabric.
