Traditional Gua Sha vs Lymphatic Drainage Brush
Are lymphatic brushes worth it?
I tested both and here’s how they compare
Traditional Gua Sha
Pros:
• Releases facial tension
• Sculpts and defines the face
• Precise around cheeks and jaw
• Great for under-eye de-puffing
• Boosts circulation
• Naturally cooling
• Gentle on sensitive skin
Cons:
• Easy to do it wrong
• Easy to use too much pressure
Lymphatic Drainage Brush
Pros:
• Beginner-friendly
• Quick for morning de-puffing
• Stimulates circulation
• Designed for drainage massage
• Easy to control pressure
Cons:
• Results are subtle/temporary
• Not suitable for under the eyes
• Not for rosacea and acne
• Less effective for deep tension
• Can feel sharp if angled wrong
My take: I still prefer traditional gua sha for sculpting and tension release — the results last longer, but the brushes are super easy to use.

• Technique-dependent
• Easy to use too much pressure

Traditional Gua Sha vs Lymphatic Drainage Brush ✨
Are lymphatic brushes worth your money, or are they just another TikTok overhype?
Some swear by them for de-puffing, while others say the results are minimal. As a facialist and qualified skin expert, I’ve been testing and comparing both over the last few weeks so here’s how they really compare 👇
Traditional Gua Sha
Pros:
• Excellent for facial tension release
• Great for sculpting and defining the face
• The curved shape allows for precise sculpting around the cheeks and jaw
• The flat side works beautifully under the eyes for de-puffing
• Helps boost circulation
• Naturally feels cooling on the skin
• Smooth surface is often gentler on sensitive skin
Cons:
• More technique-dependent, using the wrong angle/technique can do more harm than good, and I see this taught incorrectly a lot
• Easy to apply too much pressure if you’re not careful
Lymphatic Drainage Brush
Pros:
• More beginner-friendly and intuitive to use
• Quick and easy for morning de-puffing
• Great for stimulating circulation
• Designed for lighter, drainage-focused massage
• Pressure can be adjusted more easily
Cons:
• Results are generally subtle and temporary
• Can irritate sensitive skin if overused
• Not suitable for rosacea, acne, or compromised skin barriers
• Less effective for deeper facial tension release
• If held at the wrong angle, the edges can feel sharp on the skin
My take: I still prefer traditional gua sha for overall sculpting and tension release, the results last longer but the brushes are super easy to use

Still can’t quite believe this was my evening last night ✨
A private screening at for latest film Mother Mary what an incredible experience.
Huge thank you to Team and for such a beautiful evening 🤍
From a stunning dinner at to a chauffeur-driven car to and from the screening… every detail felt so thoughtful and very special.
Seeing Anne Hathaway herself before the film, she was so kind, gracious, and every bit as radiant as you’d imagine. Her skin in real life? Flawless, after all she is the face Shiseido Vital Perfection so no surprises.
You know my answer when anyone asks me ‘What’s the best eye cream?’ And my answer will always be Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Advanced Eye Cream.
An unforgettable night in every sense. Tysm Shiseido 🫶🏻
