Hair thinning is always gradual, no matter what the cause. Fifty is the average age for menopause, but changes to your hair can begin long before. Around menopause, you may begin to notice these symptoms. Hope it helps to recognise whether this is symptom you are experiencing.

Most women find that their hair loses volume and length around menopause. This is because menopause causes your oestrogen levels to decrease, and oestrogen is a hair-friendly hormone, helping to keep your hair in its anagen (growth) phase for longer.
You may also find that your hair breaks more easily after menopause. This is because the new hairs that your follicles produce become gradually finer, and finer hair is naturally more fragile.
In women whose hair follicles are sensitive to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), hair thinning during menopause is often more pronounced.
This is because the drop in oestrogen levels around menopause means that you have a higher ratio of testosterone in your body, allowing it to have a stronger negative affect on your hair follicles. Let us know if this is what you are experiencing.

No. It is natural to lose up to 100 hairs a day. The act of shampooing simply dislodges hairs that have already become detached from the follicle’s base and are ready to come out.
On a day when you don’t shampoo, many of these strands will remain sitting loosely in the hair follicle, waiting until you wash to come out. This means that the more days you leave between shampooing, the more hairs you will see in the drain. You would not see the same amount if you were to shampoo every day! In fact, frequent hair-washing encourages healthy hair — it stimulates the scalp and creates an optimum environment for healthy hair growth.

The reason you suffer from an excessive amount of hair loss in the winter is that the dry air outside sucks out all the moisture from your scalp, and makes it dry as well.
A dry scalp leads to dry hair, and dry hair results in breakage, and hair fall.
Regularly use hair masks to help your hair moisturise. We are launching deep conditioning hair mask that also prevents frizziness, hair loss and prevents greying. Stay tuned!

A scalp massage can reduce stress levels, increase blood flow to the hair follicles and promote an overall feeling of relaxation. If done properly it opens up the blood vessels to promote blood flow which increases the amount of nutrients available for hair growth.
A traditional scalp massage involves the use of your fingertips only.
1. Use the fingertips of both hands to apply light to medium pressure to your scalp, moving in small circles.
2. Work your way across your scalp to cover all areas.
3. Try to massage your scalp using your fingertips for at least 5 minutes at a time, several times a day.
