A lot of breathwork is just chasing a quick state change.�
You feel better… then drop straight back to baseline.
Because the system underneath is still stressed - and the other 20k+ breaths you take that day are still signalling threat, reinforcing the loop.
What actually works is seeing this as training.
This means:
– Bringing awareness to your breath in everyday moments (this is how your system learns)�– Not trying to fix how you feel (that just reinforces avoidance)�– Staying with the right level of discomfort / stillness / focus so your system adapts over time

Burnout doesn’t always look like exhaustion.
For many people it shows up as disconnection from the body, from stillness, and consistently overriding what you actually need.
Reconnect London is a monthly, in-person workshop to re-energise, come back to presence and your body so that you never burn out.

For around 90% of my half marathon, I ran breathing only through my nose.
This has taken practice.
For much of the race my heart rate was in Zone 4 - where the instinct is to gasp, tense, and fight the effort.
Nasal breathing forces me to stay with intense air hunger without panicking.
To soften the body instead of bracing against it.
When the body settles, the mind follows.
For me, that paradox of deeply relaxing into high stress feels almost like a spiritual experience.
It helped me keep going when the second 10k felt pretty horrendous.

It’s a pleasure to be collaborating with the great David Saville on an exciting new project!
We first met 3 years ago at his coaching event. I was struck by his presence with everyone in the room and his ability to create an atmosphere of real connection.
After burning out and becoming seriously unwell I wanted a new way of life. I’d trained as a Breathwork & Embodiment Instructor but lacked experience and confidence. To help me get started I took David on as my coach.
I ran my first workshop a couple of weeks later! 🤯
It went better than I could have imagined and I was eager for more. Since then, I’ve been running workshops every month, and building a career that I love. I’ve become a better husband and father, and thank David for his incredible support and guidance. 🙏
3 years on it feels great to be combining my Breath & Embodiment expertise with David’s Connection Coaching to create something amazing!

It’s been an honour helping Ekow Essuman - ranked #4 in the world - prepare for the biggest fight of his life: a clash with former undisputed world champion Josh Taylor in Glasgow.
This Saturday, they go head-to-head for the WBO International Welterweight title.
Ekow is not just a phenomenal athlete - he’s a grounded, driven, great man and father, always seeking an edge.
He was looking to sharpen not just his body, but his mind and nervous system - to stay calm under pressure, build even more endurance and perform with presence both in the ring and in the spotlight.
That’s where we began our work together - building a foundation for the most challenging situations using breathwork, embodiment and nervous system training.
We have expanded his capacity to perform under stress, building greater oxygen efficiency, giving him greater access to composure and clarity, especially in the red zone.
Perhaps the biggest impact of our work has been using the breath to calm his nervous system from high stress into relaxation very quickly so that he can recover and handle the demands of training better.
The intensity of training can be so hard that the stress hormones make it difficult to ‘switch off’ - this is where the breath is the key.
The hard work is now done.
