What to pay attention to when buying red lipstick
The most beautiful and most "dangerous" technique in makeup is the use of red lipstick. Many people are afraid of it like fire or postpone it for "that very occasion", however, the times when red lipstick was considered an element exclusively of evening makeup are long gone.
Shade
All shades of red can be divided into three groups: cold, warm and neutral. When choosing, you need to take into account the skin tone.

If you are the owner of a light porcelain skin that almost does not tan in the sun, choose red lipsticks with a cold pinkish tint, for example cranberry, raspberry and pomegranate. This version of lipstick will perfectly complement the classic makeup scheme: velvety skin without bright blush, barely noticeable shadows and black arrows.

If you have tanned, swarthy or dark skin, suitable shades will be "pure" and neutral (for example, scarlet) or deep dark: wine, burgundy, ruby, which look best in combination with dark eyes. Red-bronze lipstick will also suit you.

Olive skin tone (not snow white, but not dark-skinned) will favorably emphasize bright coral, salmon, strawberry or ripe tomato, which can be supported in makeup with blush of the same shade.

However, you do not need to limit your imagination to limits and rules. To make the perfect shade of lipstick for Marilyn Monroe, Max Factor Jr. mixed several shades of red lipstick and turned out that famous Ruby Tuesday shade, which became the hallmark of the actress. So nothing prevents you from fantasizing and mixing different shades to get your own.

Texture and effect
Like lipsticks of other shades, red can be completely different in texture: cream, satin, shiny, with reflective particles, resistant matte, lacquer and glossy.

If red lipstick is new to you, start with a "pliable" in applying a classic creamy texture. Matte and persistent lipsticks are more capricious, because due to the peculiarities of their formula, they "sit down" and seize on the skin faster and it is more difficult to correct them.

Textures can also be "divided" according to relevance and occasion. In the office, use calm cream and satin — they will be noticeable, but at the same time they do not catch the eye. Matte textures are ideal for field meetings and dates when you don't want to worry about the color "running away". For evening outings, a glossy, shiny option is perfect: it "plays" favorably in artificial light and creates additional volume.
Application
Before applying a lipstick of a bright shade, it is important to assess the condition of the lips, because red lipsticks bring to the fore all cracks and peeling. So if you decide to buy a red lipstick, you need to remember to use a lip scrub once or twice a week. Lips can also be massaged with a toothbrush while you are doing morning routines. The main thing is that it should have soft bristles that do not injure the delicate skin of the lips. With light massaging movements, you need to walk over the skin of the lips with a brush soaked in warm water. You can also apply any cosmetic oil to the brush: peach, apricot, almond. Then apply a moisturizing balm, which should be soaked with a napkin after a few minutes.

It is also important to mask small redness, pimples, dark circles well, because red lipstick immediately attracts attention to itself, and therefore to your face. Do not forget about eyebrow and eye makeup to properly maintain a bright red accent.

You can apply lipstick from a tube or use a small flat brush. If the lipstick is classic — moisturizing, creamy texture — it is better to use it together with a pencil, because it is likely that after some time it will go beyond the natural contour of the lips. Red lipstick can also be applied with fingertips, without using a contour pencil. So the effect of kissed lips will turn out — it's very fashionable now.

Do not use persistent red lipstick for the first time right before going to an important event. If you make an inaccurate movement, it will be difficult to correct the mistake in a hurry. Practice the day before or a few days before the event.
