Brunette doesn’t have to feel flat or one-dimensional.

A lot of clients want change and impact without committing to the upkeep of an all-over lighter colour.

For this transformation, I created bold red highlights through a dark base to add contrast, movement, and a strong face frame.

The lighter pieces were pre-lightened first, then glossed with red using colour from to create this rich, vibrant finish. I focused the placement around the areas that naturally catch the light, so the colour feels intentional while still keeping depth through the brunette base.

The result is glossy, high-contrast hair that feels bold but still wearable.

Swipe through to see how the warmth completely changes the overall feel of the haircut and colour.

Would you try a bold placement colour like this, or do you prefer something more subtle? Let me know in the comments.

My journey in hairdressing has always been rooted in both creativity and education.

Alongside my work behind the chair at MB Garden Room, I continue to teach precision cutting for brands including ID Hair Denmark, as well as collaborate with artistic teams within the industry.

These experiences allow me to continually refine my skills, stay inspired, and bring fresh ideas back into both my salon work and education.

For my clients, it means a highly personalised experience built on years of technical knowledge and real salon experience.

For hairdressers, I offer bespoke 1:1 and 1:2 precision cutting education in my private garden studio, designed to help build confidence, consistency, and a deeper understanding of cutting techniques that work in everyday salon life.

I am also available for bespoke in-salon education sessions for teams and groups.

DM for education enquiries or upcoming training dates.

Beyond the cutting and colouring services, MB Garden Room is dedicated to holistic hair health.

I believe that the care you put into your hair at home is just as important as the work we do in the studio.

To support this, I am always happy to provide tailored recommendations based on your specific hair type and lifestyle.

I have curated a selection of luxury hair care products that I personally trust and use behind the chair.

These are available to purchase directly in the salon or via the website.

This approach ensures that you have the right tools and routines to keep your hair looking salon-perfect every single day.

In precision cutting, your sectioning is your map.

If your sections are messy, your final result will likely be inconsistent.

Clean, deliberate sectioning allows you to maintain total control over your elevation and distribution throughout the service.

It removes the guesswork and ensures that every cut you make has a specific purpose within the overall shape.

I teach my students that precision is found in the discipline of these details.

When you take the time to set up your technical map correctly, the rest of the haircut becomes an exercise in clarity and confidence.

Consistency is the hallmark of a true professional.

Save this as a reminder for your next precision appointment.

The environment you learn in matters just as much as the techniques you are taught.

That’s one of the reasons I choose to teach from my private garden studio rather than a busy salon environment.

Away from the noise and constant interruptions, we can properly slow things down, focus on the details, and really understand the “why” behind precision cutting.

These sessions are designed to rebuild confidence through strong technical foundations — from sectioning and body position to balance, shape, and understanding how a haircut works as it grows out behind the chair.

Whether you’re newly qualified, an apprentice building your cutting systems, or an experienced hairdresser wanting to refine and reset old habits, every session is tailored to where you are and what you want to improve.

Sometimes stepping away from the salon floor is exactly what allows real learning to happen.

Healthy hair is the essential foundation for any great style.

While a precision cut provides the structure, your daily habits are what maintain the integrity and shine of your hair between salon visits.

I often see clients who feel their hair has "stopped growing," when in reality, the ends are simply breaking off faster than the roots can grow.

By implementing small shifts - like managing your tool temperature and staying consistent with trims - you allow your hair to thrive.

It isn't about following a set of strict rules; it is about learning to read what your hair is telling you.

DM or ask me at your next appointment what your hair actually needs.

I believe that a great haircut should do more than just look good on the day you leave the salon.

My approach to precision cutting is rooted in technical logic. I don’t just follow a formula; I build a blueprint based on your natural hair growth, face shape, and how you actually style your hair at home.

Because I work on a one-to-one basis in my garden studio, we have the space to deep-dive into the "why" behind the shape.

This ensures that your hair remains manageable and maintains its integrity long after your appointment.

It is about providing you with a high-end, intentional result that fits seamlessly into your daily life.

If you’ve booked a 1:1 or 1:2 precision cutting day with me, you might be wondering how to prepare.

My goal is to make the day as seamless and focused as possible.

I provide the calm studio space and the technical theory, but I always recommend bringing your own primary tools - specifically your scissors and combs.

Working with the tools you use every day behind your own chair ensures that the techniques we practice translate perfectly when you return to your salon.

Familiarity with your equipment allows you to focus entirely on the new systems we are exploring.

We will work on a high-quality mannequin head (which I provide).

Just bring your tools and an open mind - I’ll take care of the rest.

The part you don’t always see.

After the morning demos, this is where it all starts to come together — hairdressers working through the shapes themselves, step by step.
Watching, questioning, adjusting… and then doing it again until it begins to feel natural.

This is where real learning happens. Not just seeing it, but understanding how to apply it behind the chair.

For hairdressers — how do you learn best?
Watching or doing?

You can have the most perfect sectioning in the world, but if your tension is inconsistent, your line will be too.

Tension is the amount of pull you apply to the hair as you hold it between your fingers.

Using too much tension around the ears or the hairline - where the hair has a natural jump- can lead to unwanted "holes" in your shape once the hair dries.

I teach my students to adapt their tension based on the hair’s density and growth patterns.

By learning where to use high tension for crispness and low tension for natural movement, you gain ultimate control over the final result.

Precision is found in the sensitivity of your touch.

Save this as a reminder for your next precision service.

I am often asked why I still maintain a full client base while running a busy education schedule.

The answer is simple: I believe an educator must remain active in the craft they teach.

Working behind the chair in my garden studio keeps my technical systems grounded in reality.

I face the same challenges you do-cowlicks, time constraints, and varying textures.

Every technique I share in my training sessions is a system I use daily on my own clients.

This balance ensures my education is always relevant, practical, and focused on what actually works in a premium salon environment.

I’m a stylist first, and that is what makes my education so impactful for fellow professionals.
