The Last Looks Podcast Mentorship Programme -

I have always seen film and TV as the closest thing we have to magic. Throughout my life as an artist I never knew quite how to channel this into a career…that was before I discovered the weird and wonderful world of hair, makeup and prosthetics.

I am only at the introduction of what I hope is to be a long, prosperous and challenging career but I feel unsure as to what the next step is, which is why I need a mentor.

I believe that characters are born in the makeup trailer, and the mentors on this programme have created some of the most iconic births of cinematic history. They have taken an idea and nutured it right the way through to the moment it is placed on an actor’s body. And one day I want to be that person - I want to take a character all the way from concept to application, making my very own magic. And it’s safe to say that the thought of doing anything else with my career is insurmountable.

I want to learn and be mentored by the best in this crazy business, to know exactly how I can start my journey and keep going. I believe I have the passion and drive to work in the industry, all I need is a little push in the right direction.

This job had a very quick turnaround and whilst there were plenty of challenges and obstacles to overcome (and always room for improvement) I was fairly happy with the results.

Yep, looks like a horror film to me.

Had such fun working on this production and I can’t wait to see at the festivals.

Been very busy lately working on some incredible film productions, but somehow managed to carve out some time to help a local theatre.

I was asked to work some magic on this cheap and cheerful wig, turning her from a synthetic nightmare into a 1930s femme fatale.

Some blood, a lot of sweat, and 8 hours later and I don’t think she turned out too bad.

It’s always then a shame when something you’ve worked quite hard on then gets cut from the show but nevermind, it happens.

What’s more of a shame is when people don’t appreciate the effort you put into something, especially when it was done entirely out of kindness.

I don’t need a pat on the back, but please don’t stab me in it.
