Celebrating International Women’s Day 🌍✨
Today we recognise the incredible women shaping the future of healthcare, leadership, and surgery. While women now make up over half of medical school entrants in the UK, the reality is that surgery remains one of the most gender-imbalanced specialties.
Only around 14% of surgical consultants and about 17% of surgeons are women in the UK, highlighting the significant gap that still exists in this field.
Women pursuing surgical careers often face unique challenges, from navigating historically male-dominated environments, limited representation in leadership roles, and unconscious bias, to balancing the demanding training pathway with family life and childcare responsibilities. Studies show that many female trainees report witnessing discrimination and feel surgery can be difficult to combine with motherhood, which continues to impact career progression.
This International Women’s Day has been a moment for us to reflect on the progress being made and the role we are proud to play in supporting the next generation of medical professionals. Recently, we had the privilege of participating in the Women in Surgery International Conference, where we also led a suturing workshop for student medical professionals, helping to inspire and equip future surgeons.
We were also proud to attend the Plastic Surgery Syndicate, where we discussed the A-Day Live Programme: Leadership in and Beyond the Theatre, focusing on preventing burnout, supporting medical professionals, and raising awareness about how burnout impacts the surgical workforce. These conversations are vital as we work together to build a healthier, more sustainable future for those entering the profession.
Today we celebrate the women who paved the way, the colleagues who inspire us every day, and the future surgeons who will continue to reshape the profession.
The future of surgery is diverse, supportive, and inclusive — and we are proud to be part of that change. 💜

During the colder months, harsh weather and indoor heating can leave skin feeling dry, dull, and depleted.
An oxygen facial delivers a concentrated flow of oxygen infused with nourishing serums to the skin’s surface, boosting hydration, improving circulation, and enhancing your natural glow.
Oxygen helps stimulate cell turnover and supports collagen production, making it an ideal treatment for combating the visible effects of winter stress on the skin.
To take your results even further, red light therapy can be combined with your oxygen facial. Red light works at a deeper cellular level, promoting healing, reducing inflammation, and stimulating fibroblast activity for firmer, smoother skin.
This dual approach supports overall skin health and radiance from within, helping your complexion stay resilient, hydrated, and luminous all season long.
Join us for a personal consultation to explore your goals and discover what is possible.

October is recognised worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign dedicated to increasing understanding of the disease, promoting early detection, and supporting research and those affected.
Throughout October, healthcare organisations, charities, and research institutions work to:
Raise awareness about breast cancer risks, symptoms, and prevention
Encourage participation in screening programmes
Support individuals and families affected by the disease
Drive funding for ongoing research and treatment innovation
The pink ribbon, introduced in the early 1990s, has become a universal symbol of this effort representing hope, solidarity, and the commitment to reducing the impact of breast cancer worldwide.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in the UK, however research shows that certain lifestyle choices can help reduce the risk.
To support prevention, focus on the following evidence based steps:
Maintain a healthy weight throughout adulthood
Stay physically active on a regular basis
Limit alcohol consumption
Eat a balanced, nutritious diet
Avoid smoking
Be aware of your family history, which can help determine whether you may benefit from genetic testing or earlier screening
In addition to these measures, early detection remains crucial.
Performing regular self-checks and attending recommended breast screening appointments can significantly improve outcomes if cancer is detected.
By raising awareness and promoting informed choices, we can work together to reduce the impact of breast cancer.

Liposuction & Why It’s Gaining Popularity
Liposuction has come a long way from being just the “traditional” fat-removal surgery.
Today, there are several techniques designed to fit different goals, body types, and recovery preferences:
Traditional Liposuction
Removes larger amounts of fat for dramatic reshaping.
Laser-Assisted Liposuction
Uses laser energy to melt fat and tighten skin, ideal for smaller areas.
Power-Assisted Liposuction
A gentler, faster option that uses vibration for precision.
So why is liposuction more popular than ever? Because it delivers results that diet and exercise alone can’t always achieve. It’s not about losing weight, it’s about refining shape, targeting stubborn areas, and enhancing body confidence.
With newer techniques offering quicker recovery and more natural results, it’s no surprise that more people are choosing this treatment.
Are you considering Liposuction and would like more information on the procedure and your suitability.

Can Red Light Therapy Help with Weight Loss?
Red light therapy (RLT) has been gaining attention not just for skin health and pain relief, but also for its potential role in supporting weight loss.
Here’s how it may help:
Boosts cellular energy: Red and near-infrared light pe*****te the skin, stimulating mitochondria (your cells’ “power plants”) to produce more energy.
This can improve overall metabolism.
Supports fat breakdown: Studies suggest that red light therapy may help trigger fat cells to release stored fatty acids, making them more available for your body to burn as fuel.
Reduces inflammation: Chronic inflammation can slow weight loss. RLT may help lower inflammation levels, supporting a healthier metabolism.
Enhances workout recovery: By improving circulation and reducing muscle soreness, RLT can help you bounce back faster from exercise, which means more consistent workouts.
