Is it possible to use a moisturizer for the face in the cold?

The human body consists of about 75% water, but we do not know how to independently produce this most valuable component, so we get it only with food and drinks. The skin also really needs a sufficient amount of moisture, which comes exclusively from internal resources.

If a person consumes too little fluid (less than two liters per day), then the skin along with the whole body suffers from dehydration.

Lack of water negatively affects any type of skin:

normal — it starts to look dull, its tone becomes uneven, a feeling of dryness may appear;
combined — begins to peel off (especially on the cheeks and nasolabial triangle), and a greasy shine may appear in the T-zone;
oily skin becomes dull and gray, although it does not lose its greasy shine. There may also be a feeling of tightness, peeling, itching;
dry — begins to peel off, does not do without a feeling of tightness and discomfort.
Moisturizing cream: the principle of operation and composition
Water comes in two forms:

static (it is part of the cells and ensures the vital activity of the latter);
dynamic (it is located in the intercellular space and moves to insufficiently moistened places).
The main task of cosmetics with a moisturizing effect is to preserve the existing dynamic water in the skin and turn it into static. Understanding this point is very important: it will not be possible to solve the problem of dehydration only by using a special cream, it is necessary to constantly replenish moisture reserves in the body, observe the drinking regime. This rule is especially relevant for cosmetics that do not "specialize" in moisturizing, but contain moisture-retaining and moisturizing components (for example, any New Age anti-aging cream from GIGI).

The composition of the moisturizer includes special substances that are able to capture moisture from the atmosphere and turn it into a moisture-retaining barrier on the surface of the epidermis. Usually we are talking about substances such as glycerin, panthenol, propylene glycol, hyaluronic acid. A good manufacturer takes into account the fact that its products can dehydrate the skin, and when producing products of a different orientation, it includes the above components. Taking care of the skin of customers can manifest itself in another way - for example, lipacid added to GIGI anti—inflammatory cream has an effect similar to the effect of using benzoyl peroxide, but it does not dry out and does not dehydrate the skin.

Is it possible to use a moisturizer in winter?
We will answer the question right away: Yes! Not only is it possible, but it is absolutely necessary. The fact is that it is in winter that the skin begins to need moisture more. On the street, she is expected to have low air temperature and strong wind, at home or in the office — dry air. In addition, sudden temperature changes between the street and the room accelerate the process of evaporation of moisture.

What about the popular fear that when using a moisturizer in the cold, the skin will be covered with a crust of ice or, even worse, the vessels in it will freeze and burst? We hasten to reassure you: even in severe frosts, the skin cools down to a maximum of 32-35 degrees, so icing does not threaten it. In addition, manufacturers add special components to such products that do not allow the water present in the composition to freeze.

The question put in the title of the article should actually sound like this: "How should I use a moisturizer in winter?". Cosmetologists recommend following the following rules:

Clean the skin before applying the cream especially carefully;
Do not cover the skin with a thick layer of the product;
Apply the cream about half an hour before the exit (the product should be completely absorbed).
It should also be taken into account that moisturizers that were used in the summer — light emulsions, gels, serums - are not suitable for winter. In the cold season, you should give preference to a denser texture, but you should not get carried away either. If the stay on the street is limited to a dozen steps between transport and home or work, then the dense medium will begin to flow when in contact with warm air. Moisturizing cream based on oils and silicones is necessary for those who are outdoors for a long time.

In winter, the skin condition changes towards dryness, so for oily skin, you need to purchase a remedy for normal or combined skin. Normal skin becomes drier, so it needs appropriate remedies. The epidermis, prone to dehydration, becomes even more problematic, so it needs the most dense and saturated structure (for example, GIGI cream for dry skin with the most effective moisturizing components).
