Congratulations to the UK-based visual artist Doina Moss for her solo show in Galați! Opening today, on view until 12 August.

Uniunea Artiștilor Plastici din România, Filiala Galați, vă invită la vernisajul expoziției „Permanența tranzitorie. Pe urmele peisajelor regale între Regatul Unit și România", semnată de artista Doina Maravela-Moss, curatoriată de Sorina Vădeanu.

Evenimentul va avea loc joi, 23 iulie, începând cu ora 18:00, la Galeria de Artă ,,Nicolae Mantu", str. Domnească, nr. 22, Galați.
Expoziția, deschisă până pe 12 august 2026, reunește 35 de lucrări în ulei, grupate în patru serii. Prima este dedicată Reginei Maria, cu imagini din Sinaia, București și reședința de la Balcic. A doua surprinde peisajele din parcurile regale de la Richmond, Londra. A treia s-a născut din călătoriile internaționale ale artistei, iar a patra a fost realizată en plein air pe coasta Devonului. Trei dintre aceste serii au mai fost expuse la Castelul Peleș (2024) și la sediul Uniunii Arhitecților din România, București (2025). Deopotrivă entități geografice și simboluri culturale, peisajele sale spun o poveste despre tradiție și istorie, în manieră impresionistă.

Personalitate artistică complexă, ce se înscrie între rigoarea arhitectului și spontaneitatea creativă a plasticianului, pictorița expune atât în România, cât și în Regatul Unit. Este descrisă ca membră RIBA și FRSA.

Sensibilitatea și vigoarea mesajului artistic, inspirat din frumusețea naturii, sunt susținute de invitata sa de onoare, creatoarea de modă Simona Șpan, care prezintă în cadrul evenimentului o serie de ansambluri vestimentare unicat, cu detalii pictate manual, inspirate din natură.
Colaborarea celor două artiste aduce în atenția publicului expresivități artistice complementare ce se adresează aceluiași tip de sensibilitate pentru frumos, natură, istorie și eleganță.

🎹✨ On 5 August 2026 at 6pm, Alexandra Dariescu will appear on the legendary stage of the Royal Albert Hall, presenting Nadia Boulanger’s boldly poetic Fantasy (1912) for piano and orchestra at the BBC Proms, together with The Hallé and its Principal Conductor Kahchun Wong. 🎼

💬 In her own words:

"I’m an artist, a citizen of the world and a storyteller: my story tells audiences just how diverse and inclusive the art form I love can be, despite the shortfalls of the past. It tells society that it is up to each and every one of us to ensure that unlike my younger self, children today can learn from an early age all about the great musicians, past and present, regardless of their background and gender; inspiring them to work hard, never give up and continue to break down those unnecessary barriers that we, all too often, still put around ourselves today.

No one chooses where they are born, but I consider myself lucky my journey started in Romania, a country I adore and will always call home. 🇷🇴 I was brought up in the church choir as my whole family sang in this tight community, so my heart was filled with four-part harmonies from the very beginning. 🎶 Every summer was spent with children at summer camps, singing alongside my Mum, who taught herself to play guitar, while the rest of the summer we spent with Gran at the monasteries, high up in the mountains, where the church bells 🔔 and monks’ chanting resounded throughout the forests." 🌲

At the end of last week, we were delighted to attend the presentation of 'The Shape of Flight', an installation by Romanian fashion designer Flavia Nistor, within the Royal College of Art’s MA Fashion Expo 2026.

Drawing from Constantin Brâncuși’s search for the pure essence of form, the project explores the élan of flight through dynamic shapes, reduction of form and the moment just before take-off, when tension is held and the body prepares to break away.

Combining engineered metal structures with stretch textiles, Flavia Nistor creates garments that embody suspension, compression and the desire to rise above constraint, while offering a contemporary reflection on Romanian cultural identity.

✨ A wonderful celebration of Brâncuși at 150 years since his birth at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall last night!

Five new orchestral works inspired by Brâncuși’s sculptures and commissioned by the London Philharmonic Orchestra premiered to great public success in London. Guided by composer in residence, Sir George Benjamin – an admirer of Brâncuși himself – five young musicians created new works, taking inspiration from Brâncuși’s philosophy of clean forms and „the very essence of objects”.

🎼The composers are: Michael Taplin, Margot Pommellet, George Stevenson, Edward Mascall-Robson and Seyoung Oh. The whole project started with an in-depth seminar led by Dr Jonathan Vernon, who specialises in modern art and Brâncuși.

Evocatively titled Beginning of the World, Étude pour un oiseau de bronze (In memoriam Brâncuși), Socle, Léda, and Arcus, the compositions succeeded in bringing to the fore a powerful contemporary music translation of Brâncuși’s visionary art.

A huge thank you to the musicians of the LPO Foyle Future Firsts Development Programme and to the LPO players who delivered a seamless performance under the baton of William Cole.

We are grateful to our Ambassador, HE Mrs. Laura Popescu and to Andrei Luca, Director of the Directorate for Cultural Diplomacy, Education and Science at / Ministerul Afacerilor Externe/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Romania, for joining us at this landmark concert.

It was a glorious evening with exciting new music, a testament to Brâncuși’s enduring legacy. The Romanian Cultural Institute in London was delighted to support this initiative as part of our Brâncuși150 Season, which celebrates 150 years since the birth of our great sculptor.

Romanian Cultural Institute in London is proud to celebrate the historic BBC Proms debut of the internationally acclaimed Romanian-British pianist Alexandra Dariescu at the iconic Royal Albert Hall. 🌟

Recognised worldwide for her expressive artistry, dazzling virtuosity and her dedication to championing underrepresented voices in classical music, Alexandra will perform alongside The Hallé Orchestra, conducted by Kahchun Wong, in the Proms premiere of Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra by the remarkable French composer Nadia Boulanger. 🎼🎹

This is a truly historic achievement: Alexandra Dariescu becomes the first female pianist of Romanian origin ever to perform at the BBC Proms. 🇷🇴👏
