Quadratus Lumborum (QL) Lumbar stabiliser, lateral flexor, bilaterally extends the lumbar spine. The QL is one of the core body muscles, along with other muscles that help to stabilise the abdomen and back. It is the deepest level of muscles that could be the culprit of your back pain! Where there is long periods of sitting and the lumbar spine is resting in this position the muscle will become shortened and tight. With this chronic pain is common and acute injury becomes likely in normal daily activity. Deep tissue massage will help improve flexibility and stretches advised.

Gluteus Medius- abducts the hip, and the anterior fibres help internally rotate the femur. It plays the key role in normal gait by stabilising the pelvis when the contralateral leg is lifted off the ground. Dysfunction of the Gluteus Medius is a very common cause of lower back pain and one that I treat quite often.
Some individuals experience a referral pain/discomfort to the groin. In some other cases the QL then becomes tight because itβs having to work harder. Strengthening the glutes will π― improve their function.
Sports massage will help loosen the muscle and improve flexibility. Strengthening and stretching exercises are also advised.

When pushing your body to the limits training it's important to remember not only to eat well, stretch and get a MASSAGE! Better flexibility can improve your performance in physical activities and decrease your risk of injuries by helping your joints move through their full range of motion and enabling your muscles to work more effectively. Stretching also increases blood flow to the muscle. MET and STR are stretching techniques that any qualified Sports Massage Therapist will use to suit each individual during treatment. Today and tomorrow are your last 2 days to get your pre marathon relaxing treatments.

Remember as part of your training for the London Marathon ( important at this stage) you also need to include time to have a sports massage. Addressing any underlying problems like tight muscles is crucial. Injury prevention is key! πͺπΌ

Thanks to all that have kindly referred family, friends etc to me. Says a lot. Iβve had an exceptionally busy few weeks and am counting the minutes before itβs home time. Just one more left. Next week is looking promising too ππΌππΌ happy wkend all

Tomorrow π¬ So many emotions today, firstly relieved as itβs a cut and colour for me . Great way to start my Monday π Then a little anxious tbh. Iβve been rehabbing my wrist and Iβm hoping it will see me through my first week back! πͺπΌ I WILL deliver the usual fab treatments pre injury, I have faith ππΌ Thirdly Iβm bloody excited!! I start my first day back with a few of my favs. Itβs going to be an epic first week back!! Checklist - wrist rehab to continue β 2nd vaccine booked for Friday β 3rd antigen tests to be done twice a week starting from tomorrow β To all those starting back tomorrow, good luck and have an epic first week back!
