Happy memories and history

We have two more days left! We are closing on Saturday evening.
I first walked into 'Micks' thirty one years ago, to be greeted by a very jovial Irishman. He knew all the songs on the radio (Capital Gold), could actually tell a joke. I worked with Mick for nearly fourteen years, until he sadly died in 2004. The days of Brooke Benton, The Issley brothers and Bobby Darin were sadly gone.

Michael came in December 2004, he actually put Heart FM on the radio! I pulled rank and changed to Radio 2. We have worked at 'Micks' together as partners for seventeen years, it has been a real privilege to have had Michael as my business partner for so many years. I couldn't have wished for better.
I must also thank Amanda, Michael's wife for taking great care of our accounts for the past seventeen years. I think she probably saved us a fortune in accountancy fees.
I would also like to thank my wife Loraine for helping us in any way possible, be it selling chairs, a boiler, buying throw away gowns, sanitiser, face masks, face shields, anything for our safety.
Once again we'd like to thank you, our customers, without you all we wouldn't have had a business. They are not all local, we had some from as far away as the South Coast, we even had one or two in Spain, who would make a point of seeing us. We've been part of peoples lives for along time, the happy times the sad times and the funny times.
I would like to wish Marcos and the Las Barbers team all the best, and hope that they are as happy and successful as we have been and Mick before us and Alec before Mick. (Not sure if Marcos is a Leeds fan, still no-one's perfect).
Once again thank you all so much, you'll never know how much we appreciate you.

Dear Customers/friends, our last day of trading will be SATURDAY 20th November. Next week from the 15th through to the 20th, we will both be at the shop all week. We hope to see you all before we close.

We are really touched by what's been written. As I wrote on Friday, this process could take months. In the meantime we hope to see you all soon.

Dear Customers,

It's official, the board is up! After 31 years and Michael's 17 years we are off to pastures new. 'Things ain't what they used to be'! Both Michael and myself have decided to move on. The last year has made us both think that there is more to life than working.

We are not going just yet, we have only just put the business up for sale. This process could take months! We'll see what happens.

In the meantime we are still open and hope to see you all very soon. We have both enjoyed woking in Eastcote Lane, but feel we have 'done our time'. Hopefully someone younger would take the business on and keep it going. But that remains to be seen.

As per our post on the 22nd March, we already wished all our customers a very Merry Christmas, and a prosperous 2021. Thank you all for being so patient, for waiting outside when required, for wearing masks etc. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
