I was 15 years old when my mother handed me a book about Anita Roddick, the founder of The Body Shop. In one day I finished reading it. Her story shook my little teenage body with just how , she was and how bold. This was not the polished type like Helena Rubenstein or, Elizabeth Arden or Estee Lauder. She was loud, vivacious and spoke her mind. I had never seen a founder protest before. I felt her pain how she described finding out about child workers. Most importantly, Anita Roddick impacted me with her business model. The Body Shop gave back to the community, educated people, gave jobs - it was more than just products and no one had done anything like that before. If you asked me who was my biggest influencer in the , I would say Anita Roddick. She not only stood by her words, but she created something that did too. Times have changed since she sold the Body Shop to Loreal but she said it was so she could spend more time campaigning. What a woman! ⠀

There are many founders who are inspirations to me, but high on my list is Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder was truly a revolutionary of her time and I love her story, and rereading her quotes. Estee Lauder stands as a beacon to show that it can be done to anyone who has a dream, passion and tenacity. ⠀

I won't lie, I have been very fortunate to have all my clients passed on to my via word of mouth. This meant that I neglected my social media marketing. In 2016, I've been thinking about sustainability a lot. Especially for cosmetics and the lifetime of a product. By lifetime I mean from sourcing of the ingredients/packaging, manufacturing the product, etc. So this article really made me smile because such a small change reaped huge rewards.
