PERSONAL VALUES
A clear set of personal values is invaluable. It will guide your behaviour and help you move forward and live a life that feels good on the inside, and not one that just looks good on the outside.
HOW MICROBLADING HELPED MY CONFIDENCE
10 years ago, following the birth of my second child, I started seeing a decrease in the thickness of my brows. I tried various topical treatments but nothing worked. Over a period of about 2 years I lost my brows entirely. During this time I went to see a well known trichologist and was diagnosed with alopecia areata.
I was absolutely devastated. Having worked in the beauty industry for so long, physical appearance was important to me. How could I possibly continue with this line of work? My confidence took a huge dent as I became increasingly conscious of my unnatural looking pencilled brows which would fade or disappear during the course of the day. I’d feel even worse when friends and family asked me what I’d done to my brows. I began to hide away and avoid going out whenever possible.
Then one day I discovered microblading. It was lifesaver for me. The first time I had it done I almost cried with joy. To say I was pleased is an understatement! I’d never have my natural brows back but my micro bladed ones were the next best thing and gave me a new lease of life. I slowly resumed all my activities and life began to feel normal again. I no longer felt so self conscious when going out. I began to feel like me again!
I can speak from my own experience about eyebrow loss but, as a woman, can only begin to imagine how devastating it must be to undergo a mastectomy and reconstruction. Although microbladed /ombré brows and tattooed ni***es on reconstructed breasts are never the same as what we once had, they are by far better than the alternative. Life can be challenging at times and we need to be able to deal with whatever is thrown at us and come out at the other end. Microblading/ombré shading can help us feel normal again. That’s no mean feat and should never be underrated.

During these uncertain times it’s important that you learn to accept a new way of living however much you dislike it.
Ride the wave and trust that things will improve over time.
Do not allow circumstances beyond your control to dictate the way you feel inside.

5 TIPS FOR A STRESS FREE HOLIDAY
With school holidays and Christmas fast approaching many of you will be feeling overwhelmed and filled with dread at the prospect of doing all of things us busy mums need to do.
Here are some of the methods I use to minimise the stress of what can be a very challenging time for many:
✔️ Accept imperfection - things don’t always live up to our expectations and we can end up feeling upset and disappointed. Better to just go with the flow!
✔️ Change your response towards others - if you find yourself in an emotionally charged situation, you can’t change how others behave but you can change your response towards them. Take a few deep breaths and either say nothing or walk away for while to diffuse the situation.
✔️ Practice self-care: this could be in the form of exercising, eating well, sleeping enough: these will make you feel more positive and relaxed during a stressful time.
✔️ Plan something to look forward to: such as seeing a friend.
✔️ Delegate! It’s your holiday too.
What are your ways of ensuring you have a stress free break?
Life can be stressful at times for all of us and I’m no different. I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure which came as a bit of a shock as I’ve never smoked, don’t drink and am careful with my diet and exercise regularly.
⇒ One late Friday afternoon I had a splitting headache, had ringing in my ears and my eyes felt very strange so I took a BP reading. It was high.
⇒ I dialled 111 and went to A&E. The doctor told me I probably just needed to reduce my stress levels and that I should see my GP. I kept a log of my BP readings over the weekend before I saw her.
⇒ When presented with my readings my GP was initially happy to prescribe me alpha blockers but then changed her mind and told me to get an eye test, keep a record of my readings and to see her after a week.
⇒ During that week I got my eyes checked and they were fine. I was uncomfortable with the thought of taking BP medication and started looking into what changes I could make to improve my stress levels. The biggest changes I made were not shouting in the house and practicing breathing exercises and meditation.
⇒ I saw my GP again after a week. My readings were good and I didn’t require any medication!
💫 With my hand on my heart, for me, practicing meditation every night has transformed everything. I feel calmer and am better at mentally removing myself from the daily stresses. I still wake up at night but less so and when I do, am able to get back to sleep much more quickly and manage to get a good night’s sleep.
What are your experiences with meditation?
A happy smiling face (even with lines and no makeup!) is so much more attractive than someone with an ideal weight, perfect skin and flawless makeup.💫
Smiling makes you happier - it releases endorphins which lower your stress levels and lifts your mood.
Your smile makes you connect with people. It affects those around you. And it’s free!
GET THE GLOW : PART 1
I’m a firm believer that beauty comes from the inside out. In addition to using the correct skin products tailored to our skin’s needs, beautiful, glowing skin starts with what we eat.
One of my favourite food groups are nuts and seeds as these are so convenient for us to incorporate into our daily routines, and have so many benefits to both our skin and general health.
All nuts and seeds have something special to offer your skin.
💫 They are packed with protein, vitamin E, magnesium, zinc, selenium and omega 3 and 6 that help you achieve glowing, smoother looking skin.
💫 Great as a snack on their own, sprinkled onto salads, onto cereal, or added smoothies.
A daily handful of nuts in your diet will leave your skin glowing!
What’s your favourite way to incorporate nuts into your diet?

PART 2
Here’s the second part of my winter skincare routine. To counteract the change in weather from summer to winter you need to switch to more hydrating, comforting and moisturising products. Here are some of my favourites:
hydrating cleanser and facial moisturising lotion
skin cleanser
high strength vit C & squalane oil
grape water
PART 1
The effects of the winter and central heating can play havoc with your skin and leave it looking dull, uneven, dry and dehydrated. Just as we change our wardrobes according to the seasons, we need to change our skincare to counteract the harsh winter conditions. Time to step up your skincare and switch to more gentle, hydrating & moisturising products !
Products I’ve used are as follows:
cleansing balm
Medik8 Skincare Experts] cream cleanse
pha toner
Medik8 Skincare Experts] retinol 3TR
skin food light
skin experts
