🌱Our apiary is located amongst wild meadows, forests and Natinal Trust reservoir. Area that has not been POLUTED by human activity.

🌱It provides our bees with plenty of VIRGIN flora and NATURAL spring water of Siversky Dinec River. (Yes, bees do drink water)

🌱Beekeeping helps nature to retain its ECOSYSTEM through Pollination.
It helps maintain BIODIVERCITY of the region and Eco-corridor that passes right through. The greater variety of species boosts nature reproduction properties.

🌱We use simple and very traditional beekeeping methods. We extract honey by hands and gently HAND-FILTER it only to remove large particles of wax. This way the particles of bee pollen and propolis REMAINS.

We feed them with their own honey.

A HINT OF SUMMER ☀️

This year it has been one of the weirdest, longest and hottest summers I can remember since living in the UK. Most of us have taken advantage of working from home and the “1-a-day” walk rule. Well, I certainly did.

The weather was awesome. I have been going to my local park ( Gunnersbury park ) every day, while it was blooming with wildflowers. 🌼 Daisies were first. I loved their sweet sunny scent that sticks to you for miles. Then the field turned bloody red with poppies. I couldn’t stop wondering about its perfect shapes, so unique and tender. The last were cornflowers – love them for its simplicity and blue colour that mirrors the sky.
🌳July air was thick of Linden tree nectar. I used to love running in the Linden tree alley in parks and along the Thames where they grow. 🌳

To me these make up the smell of summer. It reminds me of my motherland, where our bee-farm is based. 🐝
Similarly, this is what makes our midseason honey so powerfully aromatic.
🍯Our Wildflower, Acacia, and Linden Honey smells like a flower field on a hot day. It has many layered notes: mature earthy taste, rich flower nectar flavor, dried apricot scent, a woody hint of oak, and pines - that add a specific note to its flavor transmitted to honey by the local forests.

TOUGH YEAR

This year has been different and super-hard not only for us, people but for bees as well. Unusually hot and dry summer was the main challenge for bees and beekeepers. We do usually get hot summers in Ukraine, but this year was tougher than ever.

From June to August temperature was over +30C and there was no rain at all. Most of the vegetation could not give flowers. And flowering is the main source of food for bees.

Beekeeper, my dad, had to move around the beehives a few times over the season to ensure bees can harvest for pollen and nectar. Luckily, he is a professional forester and knows where the best spots in the regions are.

This was a lifesaver for our colonies of bees. Many other beekeepers were not so lucky. Our bees were saved from hunger and they have produced plenty of Honey to reward us for our hard job.

In my family, the bee-master is my Father. He has been taking care of the bees and family farm for the past 30 years. Beekeeping for him has always been practiced as a kind of traditional craft and driven by a passion for nature and never by profit.
My name is Olena and I am my dad’s ‘little helper’. My role - is to help my parents to maintain the bee farm, supporting them in promoting our products and connecting with like-minded people through love for good food and wellbeing.
I moved to London 15 years ago and thought I have become a City-slicker. However, the fast-paced lifestyle has torn me apart. I started to look back into my origins, longing for peace, and quietness of a rustic lifestyle. A passion for the natural environment awoke within me, while I still love the City vibes. Maybe, one day, one of these will win over the other. But for now – I’m just trying to balance it out.
