If your hair sinks you have high porosity hair. Your hair porosity determines how well your hair is able to absorb and retain moisture.
Porosity is often determined by genetics but there are also external factors that contribute such as added heat, chemical processing and treatments.
Knowing your hair porosity can help you choose products that will work better for your hair.

Low porosity hair is prone to product build up. Use liquid based products, moderate heat and protein-free deep conditioners to make hair more supple. You may also want to pre-poo your hair with an oil rather than a thick conditioner.
Why not try our Seal n’ Shine Multiseed Hair Oil for this?

Ever wondered why your favourite conditioner or shampoo 🧴 or whatever suddenly ‘stops working’ one day? This could be why...

I tried rice water in my hair for the first time this week and was pleasantly surprised. Part of me was ready to be let down but I was impressed with the results! I will be doing this again no doubt. Love how easy it was to do especially if you eat rice as often as I do you just keep the water from washing/soaking your rice 🍚 and use that to rinse your washed hair with prior to styling etc.
Note: Add some warm water to it if you’re not prepared to pour cold water in your hair though the cooler it is the better it will be at sealing your hair shaft which makes for smoother feeling and shinier looking hair.
Rice water is also meant to be great for your skin and also for watering plants 🌱 This is likely due to the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in the rice that transfer into the water.

Have you tried rice water in your hair before? I keep reading about it so I thought I’d give it a go. This will be my way of self caring today as I’ve been glued to my phone so if I’m in the bath I can’t be online!
When washing rice prior to cooking I just kept the water. Disclaimer: This method is one of those ‘non-scientifically proven methods that people swear by anyway🤷🏽‍♀️!’...
I’m fully expecting shiny, easily detangled longer stronger hair overnight, which is silly because science. But it’s always so much fun to try something new -I hope I never lose that irrational excitement that comes with exploring new things.
Method: wash hair with your regular shampoo and rinse then rise with rice water massaging in, leave in for 20 mins at least then rinse with warm water.
Afterwards use an oil or butter to seal your hair and massage your scalp to lock in that moisture.

It’s not okay that we are dying and that the very people supposed to be enforcing the law are the ones crushing our necks. It’s not okay that we have to die on camera for the powers that be to take (half-baked) action. Its not black vs white, it’s everyone vs racism. You don’t have to be ‘not racist’ to be anti-racist and we ALL need to be actively anti-racist, vocally and in our actions if we want long term change. Please fight it wherever you find it, even if that means you fight yourself. I pray my daughter experiences a fairer world, that she knows her worth and that her dad isn’t a statistic when she’s grown. If I can acknowledge my light (skin) privilege you can acknowledge your white one; please use it and your voice for those of us who shout and aren’t heard. Educate yourself on institutional racism. Sign the petitions, donate to the causes, resist the urge to be defensive. If the following questions resonate, your inner racist may be leaking - challenge them! ...Would you let your kids bring a black man/woman home for marriage? would you interview Abdul Karim? If he performed the best would you give him the job over the person who looks like you? Do you want mixed race babies? Are you shocked whenever you hear a black person speak English like you? When we approach you in your car do you assume we’re about to ask you for change when really we just want help with directions? Do you feel the need to ask us where we are “from-from”? Do you touch our hair without asking? Do you assume that me and the other black person in the room must be related or know each other? Why is there only one black person at your party? Would you rent your property to Jamal? Do you say All Lives Matter?

My idea of self care lately is being in the moment. I really struggle sometimes to stop thinking about the next thing that needs doing, be it laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning, shopping etc.

Since quarantine started I’ve felt more and more invited to surrender to the chaos that is life and just enjoy what’s happening when I can. For example right now it’s almost sunrise and I’ve just stuffed my face with watermelon. It was cold and it was messy but it tasted unreal and felt so good considering how thirsty I was.

What does your idea of self care look like lately?
