Last Thursdays SO Spring - aromatherapy wellbeing workshop
turned out to be a full house!

Attendees near and far (if Beckenham and Crystal Palace are considered far?!) it was lovely to see friends, loyal customers and meet new faces.

We explored a handful of essential oils on an aromatic journey 👃🏽 to smell, blindly (without knowing what they are) using our feelings and ❤️ to choose the blend we needed... Then guided to make this blend in a product to take home, but not before sampling some a collection or our ready made products - handcare and skincare.



It was unanimous, the group are interested in a Mindful Facial Masterclass for April....

🚨Everyday household goods from sponges to candles legally require safety testing - so why is the same regulation not applied to tampons that are used by millions of women every month?

❗A study by the Women's Environmental Network highlighted the presence of pesticides, including glyphosate, in period products.

❗Glyphosate is a prominent weedkiller and classified as "probably carcinogenic" by the World Health Organization.

Organic period product Time of The Month has unveiled a public clock outside Parliament counting the millions of minutes period products have been sold without regulation for nearly a 100 years now!

We're calling for much greater support and funding for farmers transitioning away from harmful pesticides.

💡The GOTS certified brand TOTM has launched an e-petition calling on the government to introduce product-specific safety-testing for tampons, as well as clear ingredient labelling.

If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures, the issue will be taken to Parliament and debated. Women’s health must be taken seriously and the Government needs to show this support.

How many of us can confidently say that our health and beauty purchases supports others, women and families (and our environment) around the world? 💭 

One of our most loved ingredients, geranium essential oil is picked and distilled on a farm in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Dedicated to the economic, social, and ecological development of the Ituri district of the Eastern Congo, the farm’s mission is to employ as many women in agriculture as possible, in an area where there are limited  opportunities in this aspect. The farm currently has over 250 employees, the majority of which are unmarried mothers.

Tighanimine cooperative was founded in 2007 via a women’s literary class lead by Nadia El Fatmi: now-president of the cooperative and elected chair of the  Fairtrade North African Board. 
Organic and Fairtrade certified, we pay a premium for their argan oil, which goes on to support the cooperative’s independence and any initiatives
chosen by its members (of which all 60 are women).

We’ve been working alongside the women of the Samburu tribe for over ten years, and pay them a premium to gather the precious Frankincense that
grows wild in Northern Kenya. This was the first FairWild® certified frankincense to be used in cosmetics.
The premium we pay has gone towards their children’s educations, paying for goats for pastoralist women (who are normally not permitted to own livestock) and several other
projects that support the Samburu community. In addition, we installed a solar-powered fresh water well in the frankincense collection zone, meaning 
the tribeswomen do not need to carry drinking water with them on their harvesting trips.
