I'm coming up to 8yrs locked it is not often that I let my hair down. No idea why. My choice to Loc my hair was more about convenience that comes with wanting hair up and out of the way whilst I'm up and about.

I just lost my whole spill for his evening!! This tells me I need a blog so I can just share the link. FB is not as versatile so watch this space whilst I think and plan my topic was to be washing Locs

It is amazing how busy locticians are these day. My advice to all book your appointment way in advance to avoid disappointment. I just tried to make an appointment to get my hair retightened but unfortunately my loc mum is fully booked!!!
Lucky for me my sister can fit me in. I do not want to retighten my hair again too much work and arm ache plus I cannot see the beauty I am creating which makes it less fun.

Just retightened my hair I did not like doing it but I had no choice. Snow stopped my retightening plans and the earliest date available was too far for me.

Choosing to loc hair is a personal choice that is questioned more than any other type of styling people with Afro hair choose. I can't remember anyone ever asking me why I chose plaits, curly perm or straight perm and yet I am questioned regarding my choice to wear sister Locs!!!

Do I regret it? No. I am still in loooove with my hair at 4 and 3/4 years. I am so in love with it that I keep changing the length at which I will start trimming it as I am loving it at every length.

Does that mean I don't wash my hair? No it doesn't. If you must know I wash my hair every week

Do I take drugs? No absolutely no

Am I Caribbean? No I am not

What do your family think? They were shocked, but I now have an aunty, 2 sisters and 2 nieces who have followed my path.

Interestingly enough even those who are negative about my decision tend to end up fascinated... Yes I say mesmerised by my hair. Conversations stop mid flow as questions are raised about my hair. Their eyes keep wandering to the hair during conversations.

It is an individual choice, no one can decide for you. But be prepared for a journey. Your hair will not look like anyone else's. you will not achieve the look of 5 year Locs overnight. It takes time. It also takes a strength of mind which comes from within.
