Last night I met Tessa Clarke, co-founder of Olio - the app that helps people share surplus food with neighbours instead of letting it go to waste.

🌴Tucked away in the lush greenery of Costa Rica, I discovered a true gem — an indigenous cacao café built from the ground up by Gianni. And when I say “built,” I mean literally — he planted the cocoa trees, sources organic beans from local farms, handcrafted all the ceramic pots and built the entire place.

✨I had the most inspiring tour through his cacao wonderland, learning about the journey from bean to bar — and let me tell you, there’s real magic in those cocoa pods.

Ladina is a beautiful soul — a mother, an artist, a woman of quiet strength and luminous grace. She moves like a feather in the air. There’s a tenderness in her presence, and yet, a deep resilience beneath.

She comes from a family of artists — her mother, grandfather, uncle — each with their own creative voice. I loved listening to her speak about carving her own path, stepping into her confidence, and honouring her unique way of creating.

I got an opportunity to witness a glimpse of her journey — and the space she shares with her mother at Casa de Arte. A garden alive with colour, sculpture, and sunshine. Her studio, a refuge. A place where the soul can exhale. Even her brother adds his touch of artistry — a culinary genius who runs an intimate restaurant in this place (and makes his own skincare potions,too).

Do we care?

# I IDENTIFY AS CLEAN.

But what does clean even mean? In beauty, the word is everywhere - on bottles, in campaigns, whispered like a promise of purity. But is it a real standard or just clever branding?The industry loves to slap this label on products as if it’s a badge of virtue, yet there’s no universal standard, no legal definition, and - most importantly - no clear benefit to you, the customer.

Does “clean” mean free of toxins? (Spoiler: everything is a chemical.)
Does it mean safer? (Safe according to whom?)
Does it mean better for the planet? (Let’s check that plastic packaging again.)

Meanwhile, the same conglomerates pushing “clean beauty” still sell conventional products packed with the very ingredients they villainize in another aisle. Curious, isn’t it?
