A Healthy Brain is a healthy body & mind. I am not a supporter of supplementation for the sake of it, however B vitamins,in particular B12 and Omega 3 fatty acids are essential for optimal brain function along with adequate hydration in the form of filtered water. Love you brain after all it is the master organ 🧠 The positive influences of B vitamins and omega 3 on our bodies are well documented and proven in scientific papers. A healthy skin starts from within.

Who out there is still using sun beds? Sun beds give out more UV rays than the midday sun. They damage your DNA and over time increase your chance of getting skin cancer. The damage done to your skin by a sun bed is not seen straight away but is gradual and accumulative. Sun beds are not a safe way to get a tan and no they are not a safe prep for a summer holiday.

Keeping hydrated is key in maintaining the optimal function of your vital organs and regulation of body functions. Water helps to keep your joints lubricated, regulates body temperature, improves our energy levels, improves our brain health and therefore our memory and focus, improves quality of sleep, cognitive function and mood. Proper hydration is key to our wellbeing. It’s over simplistic to say that everyone needs to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Filtered or mineral water at room temperature sipped steadily throughout the day is the ideal.

April is Rosacea Awareness month - know your triggers. Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition that presents with skin sensitivity, redness, inflammation, broken capillaries, eye irritation, papules, pustules and sometimes a thickening of the skin on the nose. Knowing what triggers a flare up can help significantly in the management of this chronic skin condition.

The Double Cleanse: this is only necessary as part of your evening skincare routine to remove make-up and ensure the thorough removal of SPF. A simple one step cleanse is sufficient in the morning. You can use two separate cleansers for each cleanse ie. a balm or oil cleanser as the first cleanse and a gel cleanser as the second cleanse. The same cleanser can also be used for both the first and second cleanse. The main thing is that you consistently cleanse your skin with the CORRECT cleanser for your skin. As a rule a gentle gel cleanser is a safe bet and suits all skin types. A big mistake I see in clinic is the overuse of abrasive and dehydrating cleansers that interfere with the skins microbiome and strip the skin of its natural protective barrier function.
