The 24 microseason calendar has entered Shoman (小満), which literally means “a little fullness,” reflecting the time when nature becomes lush with greenery and early harvests begin. This two-week period is symbolised by silkworms, safflowers, and the ripening of wheat. Traditionally, it also marks the seasonal shift in Japan when people transition from wearing double-layered kimonos to lighter, single-layered ones.

In Chadō, purity (Sei) means both cleanness outside and inside reflecting the care and honesty in how we treat ourselves and others.
