Making the most of the potential

A throwbck to one of our favourite projects. It’s difficult to imagine that 11 weeks prior to this photo being taken, our client’s garden space was not used to its full potential. Our experience in design and build allowed us to maximise the space incorporating bi-folding door system and openlan kitchen dining room. Natural sunlight pierces through large rooflights complementing the modern design of the bespoke kitchen and appliances.

8 tips for improving your online security

Did you know that more than £190,000 a day is lost in the UK by victims of cyber-crime? More than 30% of victims in the second half of 2018 fell prey to the hacking of social media and email accounts. However, there is more to cybercrime than hacking – DDoS Attacks, botnets, identity theft, cyberstalking, phishing, to name a few.

More important questions, however, is how we can protect ourselves from cybercrime. Here are a few pointers:

1. Don’t go cheap on an internet security suite. Choose full-service real-time protection against existing and emerging malicious software.

2. Password: password – really? Use strong, complex passwords, ideally a combination of at least 10 letters, numbers, and symbols. And change them regularly.

3. Don’t ‘remind me later’ me! Hackers never sleep – it’s common knowledge. They keep updating the malware, so keep your antivirus and internet security software updated.

4. Manage your social media settings. Also, be mindful of what info you give away on your social media platforms. Your pet’s name might Open Sesame.

5. Strengthen your security on Wi-Fi. A strong encryption password and a virtual private network when using public Wi-Fi is an excellent place to start..

6. Make your children aware of the threat. Online bullying is also a cybercrime!

7. British Airways or NHS hacked again? Look out for major cybersecurity breaches, as it may affect you.

8. Protect your personal information from theft. The VPN surely works well for digital data. However, don’t forget about the good old fashioned mail theft, as personal details included in your letters may be used in a cyber attack. Shred your mail with care.

House Extension and Loft Conversion Surveyor / Expert Consultant

With the company expansion a new exciting position of Surveyor/Consultant has become available.

The successful candidate will have a minimum job experience of 2 years as a site foreman, project manager, estimator dealing with projects, such as house extensions and loft conversions, major refurbishments or basements(optional).

As the company grows in a fast pace, we are looking for people who share the same values, are willing to grow and take more responsibilities. The position will involve being the first point of contact for our new clients, carrying out initial site surveys and consulting the clients on all aspects and best methods for projects as house extensions refurbishments and lofts. This is a perfect job if you love people, know the industry standards well and are a good listener. Your main job will be to deliver accurate information acquired from your site survey and during the conversation with the client to our commercial team who can then produce an accurate price for the client.

The primary duties are as follows:

Inputting new project data into the CRM
Contacting the client by telephone for initial consultation
Contacting the client by telephone and email to schedule a site meeting
Complete the online questionnaire using the company iPad while carrying out the initial site survey
Liaising with the estimating department to hand over the project after the site survey
Calling architectural companies to establish new contacts and generate new potential leads
Monitoring and sorting incoming leads
Reporting and meeting KPI’s
Attend team meeting and company training programs
Be the company ambassador
